Here is my next book from the folks at Sterling Publishing that would make a great addition to your family's holiday book advent. It is called, "We Wish for a Monster Christmas." Wonder what this book could be about? Check out the short book trailer and synopsis from the publisher below, followed my thoughts and then the giveaway where one lucky reader will win a copy of this cute holiday book to share with their family.
More about this book:
"Dear Santa: please bring us a MONSTER for Christmas! This hilarious parody of the traditional carol We Wish You A Merry Christmas stars two siblings who want something just a little more special than the usual toys for their Christmas gift. Mom and Dad refuse—so they appeal to a higher power: Santa!
Since they’ve been good all year, Santa delivers… but having a monster in the house may not be all it's cracked up to be. Delighted readers will sing along in WE WISH FOR A MONSTER CHRISTMAS written by Sue Fleiss and illustrated by Claudia Ranucci!"
My Thoughts:
I really liked how this book made a parody of the classic Christmas carol, "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" and made it all about monsters. Yes, you read that right, monsters. Not something you think of when you think about Christmas. But, when you read this cute story sent to the carol, you can't help but smile and laugh.
Before we read this book, I had the girls sing the "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" carol, that way they could see that this was a play on the song. Then, I started to read the story and they understood what I meant. They, too, liked the whole idea of a hilarious parody on a Christmas carol, and thought it was genius for the two little kids to write and ask Santa for a monster for Christmas.
While my girls are not one to give us a wish list of toys to ask for a monster, they did think it was a fun idea. I asked them what type of monster they would ask for and what they would want it to look like. It was fun hearing the girls come up with some crazy responses. Thankfully monsters are make believe, because I would hate to wake to a monster on Christmas morning.
You and your kids will enjoy following along to see if these two siblings get their wish for a monster filled by Santa. You'll all love the playful illustrations that fill the pages of this book and really make the story come alive. And, wait until you get to the end of the story and see what the kids will be wishing for next year. Oh boy! :-)
