I really enjoyed sharing this book with my girls the other day. Even though we have yet to go and tag a pine tree and cut down for Christmas, we do enjoy the whole putting the tree process.  And, as part of Bella's birthday weekend next weekend, we will be putting up our Christmas tree so that we can enjoy a little longer than usual.  Usually we put the tree up after Thanksgiving dinner, but it seems right after turkey dinner, the holidays speed by in a blink of an eye, and then we are left with finding new spots for toys Santa bringing and taking down the tree to start the new year.

This story is written in a fun short rhyming scheme that delighted my girls.  And, the illustrations were beautifully done.  I loved how the illustrations spread out over two pages so that you have a full canvas to admire the festive illustrations.

With the holidays fast approaching this book is sure to get family's into the holiday spirit and get them excited about visiting their local tree farm to choose the perfect tree, or putting up your Christmas tree and looking through all your favorite ornaments recounting memories from holiday's past.

Patricia Toht once owned a children's bookshop called Never Never Land before turning a love of books into a love of writing. Pick a Pine Tree is her debut picture book. Patricia Toht lives in Chicago, Illinois.

Jarvis is an illustrator and animator who has worked as both a record jacket designer and an animation director. He is the author-illustrator of Alan's Big, Scary Teeth. Jarvis lives in Manchester, England.
