Recently my girls stumbled upon Rugrats when they accidentally recorded this show instead of one of their other Nick shows. Not knowing what it was they put it on an started to watch it. All I could hear in the kitchen was the laughter from the girls. I walked into the living room to see what they were watching and they said "Look at this new show we found. It is so funny!" I knew instantly what this show was and that is wasn't new, as I used to watch it with my husband back in college. He was big on animated series and this was one of his favorite.
The girls were surprised that I knew the different characters names, before I told them I used to watch this show years ago. I found myself pulling up a seat next to them to watch it and started to laugh along. Then, that night while going through emails I read an email from my PR contact at Nickelodeon about two upcoming DVD releases -- "Rugrats: Season 1" & "Rugrats: Season 2". I couldn't help but laugh, thinking about how I totally forgot about this show until my girls stumbled upon it, and then thinking about how much fun the whole family would have sitting together watching the two seasons.
A few days after the girls stumbled upon this show, I received "Rugrats: Season 1" & "Rugrats: Season 2" in the mail to review. And, for the past two weeks, we have been having fun snuggling up on the couch after bath time watching a few episodes a night as a family. I love when I can share shows I used to watch as a child an even before the girls with my girls, and see them getting as excited as I did when a new episode comes on.
If you were a fan on Rugrats back in the day, or have since become hooked thanks it the show airing on Nickelodeon's daily '90s programming TV block, "The Splat," from 10pm-6am (ET/PT) on TeenNick, then you will definitely want to pick up these two new DVD releases, to enjoy. We still have part of Season 2 left, and continue to watch a few episodes each night and talk about our favorite parts of the show together as a family. :-)
