I was so excited when I received an email back in late October about Greg Page, the longtime Yellow Wiggle, releasing a holiday CD. I don't know about you, but my family was sad to see Greg leave the show due to a medial condition (orthostatic intolerance). He always made my girls and I smile and had a special twinkle in his eye that made the show that much more enjoyable.
"Australia's Greg Page was the original/longtime Yellow Wiggle of kids' music phenomenon The Wiggles. After nearly 17 years with The Wiggles, Greg had to leave the group due to a condition called orthostatic intolerance. He's doing much better now, having learned to manage the condition by understanding its causes, and he's back in action as an entertainer."
It was great to hear that Greg had finally got his orthostatic intolerance under control and was getting to doing what he does best -- entertain families all over the world. With his new holidays album, "Here Comes Christmas!", which is slated for release November 24 on the Yellow Entertainment label., Greg will be putting smiles on families faces yet again, and getting them into the holiday spirit with his all-ages album which includes holiday favorites like "Let It Snow," "The Christmas Song," "White Christmas," "Winter Wonderland," "Jingle Bell Rock," etc.. In addition to these known classic holiday songs, Greg and his Chicago-based producer, Alec Miller have also penned three original songs, which turned out to be my family's favorites.
Here Comes Christmas will be available from iTunes and www.butterscotchtv.com from November 24th for $10.99.
"Stylistically, Here Comes Christmas pays homage to old-school orchestral arrangements such as those made famous by Bing Crosby, Perry Como, and Dean Martin."
"Here Comes Christmas opens with three Greg Page/Alec Miller originals, presented with panache, substance, and personality. “Here Comes Christmas” greets the listener with the miracle of Greg’s voice perfectly capturing the spirit of holiday anticipation. “Christmas Bells” – a “Christmas Greeting” song –provides a wonderful vehicle for bell ringing sounds of the season. With its Christmas hat doffed in salute to the spirit of the ‘70s, “It’s Christmas” bubbles with Caribbean rhythms and vocal savoir-faire from Greg Page.
A splendid array of favorite, traditional holiday tunes follows. Highlights include “The Little Drummer Boy,” in which Greg Page provides a dramatic study of symphonic proportions that greatly expands the canvas of earlier versions by the Harry Simeone Chorale, the Ray Conniff Singers, Andy Williams, etc., along with superb renditions of such beloved holiday perennials as “Frosty the Snowman,” “The Christmas Song,” “Let It Snow,” “Silent Night,” “White Christmas,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” “Jingle Bell Rock,” “Silver Bells,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “O Come All Ye Faithful,” “Feliz Navidad,” “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” “Winter Wonderland,” and more.
Here Comes Christmas also includes four bonus tracks for children from Greg Page’s new TV show, Butterscotch’s Playground. The bonus tracks are a holiday gift to the kids from Greg!"
One of my favorite things about the holidays is listening to holiday music, and this CD has quickly found itself on my favorites lists, and continues to be played at home and in the car, for the girls and I sing and dance along to. What better way to get into the holiday spirit than by picking up this new CD from Greg Page, everyone's favorite Yellow Wiggle. As soon as you hear the first of 22 holiday tracks (plus 4 bonus tracks), you will find yourself smiling and being happy to have Greg Page back in your family's life to entertain you. My girls both give this CD a big thumbs up and have even asked me to pick up extra copies to leave at Nana and Papa's house and to give to her friends as holiday gift. This is definitely one holiday CD that will be treasured year after year and get families talking about all their memorable Yellow Wiggle moments they have come to cherish.
I am so happy to have been given the opportunity to review this CD and can't stop talking about it to family and friends who ask for holiday CD recommendations. If you are looking for a new holiday CD filled with wonderful songs both oldies but goodies and new ones, that is perfect for both kids and adults to listen to and enjoy, then you'll want to check out the new "Here Comes Christmas" CD from Greg Page today.
