“20 BACK-TO-SCHOOL TALES – SCHOLASTIC STORYBOOK TREASURES®: THE CLASSIC COLLECTION” DVD RELEASES JUNE 16th

The Scholastic Classic Collection value line continues with a new DVD packed with Back-to-School Stories!

Growing up, one of my favorite things to do was read books I had picked up at Scholastic book fairs or chose from monthly catalogs sent home.  My mom surprised me and my brothers by saving some of our favorite Scholastic books, many of which we used as beginner reader books, and gave them to us when we had children of our own, to start a book collection for them.  I am hoping to instill a love of books and reading like my mom did with me, with my girls. I am doing this by making a point to read to them every night before bed, as well as during the afternoon when they are looking for something to do.  And, now that Savannah is heading into Kindergarten in the fall, I have already started to teach her site words and sharing some of my favorite childhood Scholastic books with her, pointing out these words.

In addition to reading, I also love snuggling up on the couch with the girls to watch DVDs like this from Cinedigm and Scholastic, that bring classic Scholastic books to life.  My girls love seeing books we have read as a short movie, giving a fun new feel to the story they are used to me reading at bedtime.  With Savannah going to school in the fall, I am making a point now to share "Back to School" stories with her to get her excited about Kindergarten and heading off to big kid's school.  This DVD has come in handy to introduce her to the whole school experience, while also sharing cute stories that we have recently read, as well as ones to pick up and enjoy together.

Is your family fans of the Scholastic Storybook Treasures Collections?  If so, you will definitely want to make a point to pick up this new DVD when it arrives in stores on June 16th, to share with your child(ren) the end of this summer, as they gear up to return to school.  I can't wait to hear which of the twenty stories become favorites in your house.  Right now, my girls are enjoying watching each and everyone, and say they are all their favorites!  :-)
