It took becoming a mom to realize how busy my mom was when I was a kid. From getting up ready in the AM for school, to driving us around and picking up my brothers and I from clubs, sports and friend's houses, she was always on the go. And, now, with two girls of my own, I find myself always rushing out the door for something, or staying up late just to finish cleaning and getting ready for the next day.
One thing I remember my mom saying to friends she talked with on the mom, is how she either had to reheat her coffee in the AM a few times as it got cold, or get to drink her coffee in the afternoon, to missing a meal because she was doing too many things. And, now I can see how moms eat last (if at all) when dining out. I am always trying to cool of the girls' food, wipe us messes, or address the when they begin to act out. I forget that my meal is in front of me. I guess this is one thing that they forget to tell you when you are about to become a mom, but that you learn fast. :-)
And, now that my girls are getting older and in preschool and clubs and sports, I find that we spend a lot of time in the car, driving from place to place. With Savannah's preschool, which is 15 minutes away, we make this drive three days a week, to and from and to and from again (all in one day). Monday's are really crazy days as the girls struggle to get ready as they are still in weekend mode. But, I have to push them to get ready and get out the door on time, so we aren't getting to school late. Don't you hate being the parent who drops their child off late? I sure do.
On crazy Mondays, and even those afternoons when I realize on the way to a destination that I forget to eat, I now have a lifesaver -- the new CLVR bars from Rickland Orchards. These snack bars are the perfect on the go bars to grab when finding yourself needing a boost of energy or pick me up while running errands with the kids (or for the kids). I especially love that the CLVR bar is gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan and non-GMO. And all CLVR bars contain only 11 grams of total fat. So, even if you are on a diet, or watching what you eat, you don't have to worry about adding to your waistline when you reach for a CLVR bar.
"Rickland Orchards CLVR bars (pronounced “klev-er”) are meant to give snackers a clever and “real” option—meaning a focus on smart eating and real ingredients such as fruits: pomegranate, blueberry, strawberry; ancient grains: chia, quinoa, amaranth; nuts: cashews, almonds, brazil nuts; and a mix of other ingredients—everything from dried fruit to flax seeds."
Besides being gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan and non-GMO, and oh so good, what sets these bars apart from others on the market are their unique flavors. I was sent the following to sample, and had a hard time trying to choose a favorite, as they were all out of this world good...
·
Rickland Orchards Blueberry Cranberry Chia Bars — Made with a
blend of blueberries, cranberries and nuts including cashews, almonds,
pistachios, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds
·
Rickland Orchards Strawberry Banana Quinoa Bars — With dried
banana and real bits of strawberry and apricot, this bar combines fruit with
cashews, almonds, brazil nuts, flax seeds and quinoa flakes
·
Rickland Orchards Pomegranate Mulberry Amaranth Bars — Made
with cashews, almonds, raisins, pumpkin seeds and raspberry and pomegranate
bits combined with dried mulberries, amaranth, and whole grain brown rice
These bars are small enough to throw in your diaper bag or handbag, or even leave a few in the car's glove box or inner console. Since trying the new CLVR bars from Rickland Orchards, I have stocked up, and now have a stash in the car, in the snack basket in the kitchen, and even a few extra in the pantry in case I find myself running low, or find someone sneaking one of these great tasting on the go bars. :-) Not only am I am fan of these bars, but my husband and both of girls (the picky eaters) can't get enough of them. My husband was happy to find things like chia, quinoa and mulberry in the ingredients, as well as coconut sugar, which each of the CLVR bars are made with. As for my girls, they try to pick out the different dried fruits and seeds, but give up quickly and start nibbling away at the CLVR bar until is it gone, and they are looking for another. :-)
Rickland Orchards' goal is to "provide a gluten-free,
dairy-free snack bar that is flavorful certified vegan with low sodium and
high fiber and made with real coconut sugar instead of an artificial sugar," and I have to say that they have done just that! If you are a fan of the on-the-go snack bars, or find yourself like me and so many other moms (or parents/caregivers for that matter), that skip a meal, need a mid-morning or afternoon snack to boost your energy level, etc., then you will want to try these great tasting bars from Rickland Orchards. I can now say, without a doubt, that I have found my favorite snack bar...CLVR bar by Rickland Orchards...you are the best! :-)
