I stopped watching Two and a Half Men after Charlie Sheen left the show, as it just wasn't the same. Yes, Ashton Kutcher is a good actor, but I always remember him in his That 70's Show role, and can't see him doing any other television shows. I know I am not alone in feeling this way, as many of my family and friends also stopped watching the show, as the story lines seemed to go nowhere and lacked the laughs that were had when Charlie's character was in the house. But, when they started bringing some of my favorite actresses on board like Kimberly Williams Paisley who played Alan's love interest and Amber Tamblyn, who plays Jake's daughter, during season 11, I started to tune in again. Courtney Thorne-Smith from Melrose Place also appears in season 11, as Alan's ex, who is now dating Larry, Kimberly Williams Paisley's character, Gretchen's brother. Oh what a tangled web, right?
As I watched season 11, I remembered why I liked this show, and started to get back into it. There were a few weeks I missed episodes, but I was able to catch up by buying them on Amazon. I have been waiting for season 11 to arrive on DVD, so that I could watch some of my favorite episodes from this season without having to buy each individual episode. The complete 11th season is made up of 3-discs, which feature all 22 episodes, as well as a hilarious gag reel. While I have only had this 3-DVD set for about a week now, I am only through the first five episodes. But, each and every one that I watch is filled with laughs, and make you want to keep watching -- even if you have already seen the season.
Amber Tamblyn really brought a breath of fresh air to season 11, and works well with Jon Cryer and Ashton Kutcher's characters. I am so glad I gave this show another chance, as I am now a fan again!
More about this new DVD release:
"The
Malibu beach house has become an empty nest for billionaire entrepreneur Walden
Schmidt (Ashton Kutcher) and his freeloading housemate Alan Harper (Jon Cryer).
But not for long. Alan’s long estranged niece Jenny (Amber Tamblyn) staggers
onto the scene with a parade of partying women in tow, bringing hilarious new
high jinks and hookups. Plus, there’s an on-again, off-again wedding for Evelyn
Harper (Holland Taylor), an alter ego for Alan, temporary retirement for Berta
(Conchata Ferrell) plus a new girl (guest star Mila Kunis) and new job for
Walden as an unpaid coder in a garage-tech startup. Join the exceptionally
eccentric Walden, Alan and Jenny as they develop affectionate bonds – and
occasional bondage – in all 22 episodes of the long-running comedy that celebrates
the opposite sex, the same sex, life, love, computer startups, family
dustups….oh, and men.
