Master Lock Back to Campus

Are you counting down the days until the kids go back to school?  While it was nice to have them home for the summer months, I know many parents, including myself, that are looking forward to the new school year.  As a stay at home mom, I get a little breathing room now that Savannah will be heading off to school.  One down, one more to go.  And, my niece and nephew will also be returning back to school, and are excited to meet and make new friends, learn new things, etc.  But, before the kids can return to the school, the dreaded back-to-school shopping and purchasing of school supplies has to take place.  While this shopping is not as stressful as Christmas shopping, it is not something I look forward to, as the weather always seems to be beautiful and hot when I choose to go clothes shopping at the outlets.  As I walk from store to store with the kids, I can't help but wish to be doing something else.  Don't you agree?  My kids, on the hand, love getting a new school wardrobe, backpack and help pick out their school supplies.  And, this year, we will be picking up Master Lock products for my 8 yr. old nephew and 10 year old niece, as they are required to have bring their own combination locks for their hall locker and gym lockers.

I was not surprised to hear that "nearly half of North American parents admitted that their child has had an item stolen from them at school, with the most valuable being their cell phone (according to a Survey Monkey conducted in May 2014)"  Has your child had the unfortunate experience of having a personal belonging stolen at school?  With so many kids bringing expensive tech gadgets including cell phones, tablets, MP3 and even laptops to school, they need to make to lock them up and protect them from being stolen.

Back when I was in middle school, I dreaded the combination lockers that were built onto the lockers, as the dials would always stick, I wouldn't turn the dials around enough times, or worse, I would forget my combination and need to go to the office and have a custodian unlock it for me and reset the combination. When I started high school, I liked that we had to bring our own combination locks.  My brothers and I would pick up a new Master Lock each year, and spend a few weeks before school trying them and memorizing the combinations.  And, as the final days of summer count down, I have been teaching my niece and nephew how to use a Master Lock.  You know that a brand is great and popular when it is something you used as a child, and now use with your kids -- Master Lock falls into this category.  :-)

We were recently sent two new Master Lock products to try out -- the  1535DWD Set-Your-Own Combination Lock and the Master Lock 1500eDBX dialSpeed.

I have to say that I am impressed with the new locks.  Master Lock has come a long way since their cool locks of my time, which included colored combination locks and ones with oversized numbers which were easier to see when turning the dial.  I for one love being able to set my own combination using letters instead of numbers, or the combination of the two.  And, the light up feature of the 1500eDBX dialSpeed is a great addition for kids who have lockers in gym locker rooms that are poorly lit or when the power goes out and you need to get your stuff out of your locker.  And, if by chance your child forgets their combination, they can look it up by visiting the Master Lock Vault website, where you and your family can store your many Master Lock combinations. :-)

From Set-Your-Own Combination Lock to a neat 5900D SafeSpace to hold cell phones, credit cards and other small personal belongings, Master Lock is here to help keep your child's belongings safe when they return back to school and the dorms this September.

To learn more about the two I was sent to review, as well as other Master Lock products available, visit http://www.masterlock.com/.  If you haven't seen Master Lock products lately, you will be amazed at how cool their product line is.  :-)   So, even though you are probably dreading the whole back-to-school clothes shopping experience, don't forget to pick up Master Lock products for your kids, so that they can return to school and not have to worry about their laptops walking away when they leave it unattended, or be part of the statistic of having a personal belonging like their cell phone stolen -- like I said this has been reported by nearly half of parents who took the survey.  Remind your kids to lock it up, to prevent their stuff from being stolen this upcoming school year.  Master Lock and their product line has been offering piece of mind for years -- I know, as I used them when I was a kids and am buying them for my kids now! :-)

--  Master Lock Back to School Twitter Party --
August 5, 2014 at 8 PM EST

I am not usually one for Twitter parties, but this past week I found myself attending a handful of them, and have to admit I had fun.  Not only did I get to meet other bloggers and readers, but I loved hearing about their favorite vacation spots and memories, fitness tips and tricks, recipes and so much more. And, while I didn't win any prizes, it was nice to see other win and get excited about surprising the kids with a day out at a waterpark, or simply splurge and buy something for themselves for once.

If you love Twitter parties, or want to attend one and see what you are missing, make a point to add August 5th at 8 PM EST to your calendar.  This will be the Master Lock Twitter Party, hosted by @ResourcefulMom.  Before attending, make sure you RSVP so that you will have a chance to win prizes during the Twitter party.  You can RSVP by visiting http://resourcefulmommy.com/14120/master-lock-back-to-school-twitter-party/.

  1. I used to hate trying to remember my locker combination in school. I love the new colors and features of these locks. That is so cool that you can set your own combination and use letters instead of numbers. Oh I also love the larger size numbers.
