We recently received a new board book from Candlewick Press which has been getting a lot of use both from m reading it to the girls throughout the day and at bedtime, and also by the girls flipping through it on their own. I even caught a few photos of Savannah sharing the book with Bella, which was amazing, as they are still in the "not wanting to share" phase.
This was a very productive summer when it came to sharing new and classic storybooks to the girls. As I read books to them, I began to see what interested them and kept their attention, and which books will probably sit on the bookcase. Both girls love animals, especially barnyard animals. And, when they are not dancing and singing around the living to "Old McDonald had a farm," they are pulling animal themed books off the shelves for me to read, or to enjoy by themselves.
"Peekaboo Barn" by Nat Sims has become their favorite book, not only because it offers the interactive feature of lift-the-flap pages, but also that there is a Peekaboo Barn app that you can download with a FREE code you receive when you buy this board book, that brings this book to life.
ABOUT THE BOOK
"Fans of the iconic toddler app Peekaboo Barn will welcome the tactile feel of this sturdy board with lots of flaps to lift. And for those who’ve never seen or played the app, the barn setting, adorable animals, and sound words make this a book for the very young that should be added to every child’s first library.

Night & Day Studios recently unveiled an updated look to their classic app that features vibrant colors, more robust and playful animations and three new farm animal friends. The app includes twelve different language options, as well as a feature for caregivers and children to record their own voice in the app."
This board book is great for teaching little ones about different barnyard animals and colors. Each page is full of bright colors that keep kids engaged, as they eagerly await for you to give the go ahead to lift the flaps and expose the animal hiding behind the flap. Even though my girls have read this book countless times, they still get excited trying to guess who is behind each door. And, with the addition of the app, they love to sit with the book next to the iPad and find the pages that are being brought to life with the easy to navigate app. The app shares animal sounds, which my girls love to imitate, as they yell out what barnyard animal it is.
If you have a little one who loves barnyard animals like my girls do, then you will want to pick up a copy of this new lift-the-flap board book from Candlewick Press. And, don't forget to take advantage of the FREE app code to add a fun add-on to this cute board book.
