My Thoughts:

My husband and I ended up watching this movie last night, and thought it was spectacular.  I can see why it had a successful festival run, "winning two Goya Awards for Best Animated Film and Best Adapted Screenplay and earning Special Distinction at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival."  This animated movie, which is voiced by A-list actors is based on Paco Roca’s award-winning graphic novel, and directed by Ignacio Ferreras.  I was not familiar with the book before watching this movie, but definitely want to pick it up now and compare the movie and book.  

Just by watching the above trailer you will get a feel for what this movie is about.  It is a move that will have you laugh at different points and be moved to tears the next, as society’s attitude toward the elderly is depicted.  Usually you don't see animated movies like this, but after seeing this one, I wish there were more out there.  I could see this being a great talking point for families to sit down and talk about the aging generation and how we should respect them more and how even through their delusional states caused by Alzheimer's and dementia, that we can learn from them and that they have an important part in our life.


I love how they use the word "inmate" to describe roommates in a retirement home. This movie is filled with so many laughs, and the adventures that the group from the retirement home take the viewer on are priceless. If you are looking for a unique movie that you otherwise would overlook thinking it was not worth seeing, then you will want to check out "Wrinkles," now available on DVD.  You will be happy you checked it out, as your rub your face from laughing so hard. :-)
