"Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios (MGM) and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment present ROBOCOP, recently arrived on Digital HD May 20 and on Blu-ray, DVD and VOD, on June 3.
Directed by José Padilha, ROBOCOP stars Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earle Haley and Samuel L. Jackson. In ROBOCOP, the year is 2028 and OmniCorp – the world’s leader in robot technology – sees a golden opportunity to reap billions for their company. When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) – a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit – is critically injured, OmniCorp grabs their chance to build a part-man, part-robot police officer. OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and will stop at nothing – no matter the cost to Alex – to make sure the program succeeds. But OmniCorp never counted on one thing: there is still a man fighting inside the machine. The film is written by Joshua Zetumer and Edward Neumeier & Michael Miner, and produced by Marc Abraham and Eric Newman. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures and Columbia Pictures’ released ROBOCOP theatrically on February 12, 2014.
The ROBOCOP Blu-ray is charged with nearly an hour of extra features and featurettes, taking fans behind-the-scenes of OmniCorp to witness the future of law enforcement, learn the secrets of director Jose Padilha, and explore the making of the film."

My Thoughts:
Becuase I wasn't sure about the movie being a success, I decided to wait until it arrived on DVD/Blu-ray to watch at home. It is much easier to turn the television off and walk away if the movie is not good, than waste $30+ at the theater and have to walk out.
Watch the above official trailer from the new ROBOCOP movie, which originally released in theaters back on Feb. 12th of this year, and has since landed on store shelves in both DVD and Blu-ray formats as of May 20th (as well as VOD), to see what this new release is about. As you can see from the movie trailer, the premise of this newer ROBOCOP, although it has similarities of the first, is a whole new story. I was pleased to learn this, and it made watching it more enjoyable, as I wasn't sitting there expecting the plot line I am all too familiar with.
I wouldn't suggest watching this with young children, as there is a lot of guns, violence and bloood, as well as strong language. But, teens will find this to be a good movie worth checking out with friends this summer, after little ones go to bed.
The plot itself moves well, with only a few lulls in between. I found myself on the edge of my seat at certain points just waiting to see what happens next. And, the ROBOCOP suit is spectacular, with all its special effects. While this newer version is not at good as one original ROBOCOP, it will still entertain fans.
Don't worry I will not ruin the ending for you. But, I will say that if you are fan of the original ROBOCOP or like movies with robot technology, this is one new release worth checking out. And, it helps to have the star studded cast rather than people you have never seen before. They have wonderful chemistry and make the storyline work. I will be watching this movie again, as well as the bonus special features, which include deleted scenes and featurettes.
