GIVEAWAY OVER -- Congrats to Erik!!!

We all know that kids, just like us adults, like getting mail (minus bills).  But, with so many monthly subscription boxes out there, it is hard to find really good ones for kids.  After searching and searching and personally reviewing a handful of them lately with my girls, I have found one that was a hit -- Nerd Block Junior.

During a grab at my husband's holiday Christmas party, he ended up picking a Nerd Block box for adults.  Having never heard of this toy subscription box for nerds, he couldn't wait to open it up and see what was inside.  He was happily surprised to find toys from hit video games, popular movies of today and yesteryear, as well as cool comic book action figures.  This was totally a box for nerds/toy enthusiasts.  Out of past Christmas swaps, this now ranks as the best gift of all time.  My husband has the assortment of toys lining his office desk, and will play with them when bored or needing a quick break.

After asking me to look into buying him another box for his birthday this month, I visited their website and found that they also offer a box for kids.  And, after looking at sample boxes from previous months, I knew two girls who would go crazy for a Nerd Block Jr. for themselves.

I reached out to the folks at Nerd Block/Nerd Block Jr. and they graciously sent me both the boys and girls May boxes to review.  Continue reading as one lucky reader will win the boys Nerd Block Jr. box to share with their child.

I wish this monthly toy subscription would have come with an information card describing the toys inside and where to buy them, along with their estimated price, I did find the name of the toy and suggested retail price listed on the shipping on the outside of the box, as a reference.  After tallying up the 5 items that were included in the box, it came to around $30 for the items found in the girls Nerd Block Jr. box.  So, you really get your money's worth with each monthly shipment, as each month's box is only $13.99-$19.99 (depending on length of subscription you sign up for), plus shipping.

While the Nerd Block Junior box is full of geeky gear kids ages 6-11 yrs. will enjoy, my girls who are 2 1/2 and almost 4 yrs. old fought out which toys they would get to keep. :-)  Unlike the adult Nerd Block subscription, this one doesn't come with a t-shirt.  But, this wasn't a deal breaker, as my girls were more into the toys that filled this box.

Most, if not all the toys you find in both the boys and girls Nerd Block Jr. monthly toy boxes are from popular kids' shows or of characters your children know and love.  Savannah was quick to snatch up the Hello Kitty egg, which when opened revealed a cute little Hello Kitty toy to play with.  Bella, on the other hand, went for the Polly Pocket doll, which came with a removable dress and shoes.

In addition to the Hello Kitty and Polly Pocket toys, the May Nerd Block Junior box for girls also included a Despicable Me bookmark with Savannah uses at bedtime when reading her favorite books, as well as a cook EZ-3D Xtreme Coloring Kit from Crayola and a Snow White figure.

Everything included in the box was well received by the girls, especially the Crayola coloring kit and the Hello Kitty and Polly Pocket figures, which the girls tote around everywhere they go.

As for the boys themed Nerd Block Jr. box for May, this one contained six items, which also had a suggested retail price of $13.99 on the shipping label, but when I looked at toy stores selling them, the products totaled around $30.  Here is what one lucky reader will be getting in my Flash Giveaway:

  • 1 Teenage Mutant Ninja Teenage Figure
  • 1 DC Vinyl Figure
  • 1 Star Wars Pocket Model Trading Cards Game Pack
  • 1 Tech Deck Long Board Toy Skateboard with Stickers
  • 1 Star Wars Plush
  • 1 Set of Pokemon Stickers

Don't worry, I only opened the box to take pictures and show off the contents.  But, I will tell you that my youngest daughter was eyeing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle which grows when you add him to water.  I guess we will be picking one up at the local toy store to try. :-)

While I only have girls, they too found the contents of this box to be good ones.  Bella kept snuggling up next to the Star Wars plush, while Savannah was mesmerized by the shiny foil looking Pokemon TV Animation Edition stickers, of which you receive 5 trading cards.  I could even seeing adult men going crazy for a box of toys like this each month. :-)

Overall, after having seen what you get in the adult Nerd Block box from my husband's Christmas swap last year, and now the two kid's boxes, I can see why so many people sign up for these monthly toy subscription boxes.  I found myself getting down on the floor to play with the girls and their new toys, while wishing I had gotten an extra box for myself.:-)

Does your child have a birthday coming up?  Or, would they consider themselves a nerd or lover of geeky toys?  If so, why not surprise them with a box from Nerd Block Junior.  They will not be disappointed with the goodies inside, and will be asking you if more monthly boxes will be coming, like my oldest daughter, Savannah did.  She is hoping that the next box contains My Little Pony items. We will just have to wait and see. :-)

Visit the Nerd Block Junior website and sign up today, so that you don't miss out on the upcoming June boxes for boys and girls -- https://nerdblock.com/.
