McDonalds Set to Introduce New Happy Meal Choice -- Go-GURT Low-Fat Strawberry Yogurt, Starting July 4th #Giveaway

Disclosure:  I was sent free coupons to try out the upcoming new McDonalds happy meals with Go-Gurt yogurt (starting July 4th at all McDonalds nationwide), in exchange for promoting this new addition on my blog and social media channels.  All views shared are mine and mine alone.

McDONALD’S USA INTRODUCES NEW LOW-FAT YOGURT SIDE AND HAPPY MEAL AMBASSADOR

Company delivers on nutrition, kids’ well-being commitments with new character ‘Happy’ and addition of Go-GURT® Low-Fat Strawberry Yogurt made exclusively for McDonald’s

Back in 2012, McDonalds introduced the new happy meal, which saw the addition of apple slices, along with a kids-size frency fry and choice of either a hamburger, cheeseburger or chicken nuggets. "Since then, more than 1.1 billion bags of apple slices have been served." The happy meals also came with a beverage of choice, including fat-free chocolate milk, 1% low-fat milk, or 100% apple juice.  Now 2 yr. later, the folks at McDonald’s USA are revamping their popular Happy Meals and offering kids the opportunity to choose between either the bag of apple slices currently included in kids' Happy Meals, or a Go-GURT® Low-Fat Strawberry Yogurt, made exclusively for McDonald’s.

Go-GURT® Low-Fat Strawberry Yogurt tubes contain only 50 calories, are made with natural flavor and with 25 percent less sugar than the leading kids’ yogurt*, In addition, each Go-GURT® tube delivers about one-quarter cup of low-fat dairy, and is a good source of vitamin D and calcium, making it a perfect choice for kids, and one parents will feel good about.

Are your kids not fans of the french fries, or as a parent are you looking to making your fast food meals healthier for your family?  Starting July 4rd, you can get both the Go-GURT Low-Fat Strawberry Yogurt tube and apple slices as your child's Happy Meal sides, in place of a kid-size fry.

In addition to adding the Go-Gurt Low-Fat Strawberry Yogurt choice with their Happy Meals, McDonald’s also recently introduced “Happy,” a new animated Happy Meal character that brings fun and excitement to kids’ meals while also serving as an ambassador for balanced and wholesome eating.

Happy encourages kids to enjoy fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy and wholesome beverages such as water or juice.

"These new additions are the latest examples of McDonald’s USA’s ongoing dedication to children’s nutrition and well-being as part of its “Commitments to Offer Improved Nutrition Choices.”
This latest offering supports McDonald’s partnership with the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, an organization founded by the American Heart Association and Clinton Foundation to reduce the prevalence of childhood obesity and empower kids to develop lifelong, healthy habits. The Alliance and McDonald’s are working together to increase customers’ access to fruit, vegetables and low-fat dairy and help families and children make informed choices in keeping with healthy, balanced lifestyles."

“At McDonald’s, we’re always looking to bring fun and happiness to families and listening to our customers’ asks to have more variety and wholesome options for kids to enjoy in their Happy Meals,” said Julie Wenger, senior director of U.S. marketing, McDonald’s. “Together, Happy and Go-GURT Low-Fat Strawberry Yogurt give kids and parents something to look forward to during their next trip to McDonald’s.”

And, keep an eye out later this year as  McDonald’s USA will also only promote milk, juice or water as a beverage choice with Happy Meals and Mighty Kids Meals on menu boards and in-restaurant and external advertising and communications.

I know two girls who will not mind saying bye bye to the kid-size fry, and in turn get their favorite apple slices and the new Go-GURT Low-Fat Strawberry Yogurt tube, as their Happy Meal sides.  We go 1-2 times a month to McDonalds when they have their $1.99 Happy Meal nights on a Wednesday, and will definitely be looking forward to the new Go-GURT Low-Fat Strawberry Yogurt tube addition to the Happy Meals, as well as seeing McDonalds new ambassador, Happy.

So, mark your calendars and make a point to check out McDonalds and their new Happy Meals with Go-GURT Low-Fat Strawberry Yogurt tube, starting July 4th.
