My girls are now at the age that they love being outdoors and exploring.  Just this past weekend, we spent a few hours hiking trails at a nature center with them.   I loved watching them get excited as they heard different animals sounds, and found different bugs while exploring.  Usually they are afraid of bees and spiders, but after seeing other kids also getting excited about being among the different bugs found in nature, they were ready to jump in and learn all about bugs, too!

It was funny to wake up and see an email about Orkin's new "Bug Wisdom" app, as I think my girls could add a few tidbits of information they learned from nature experts we met.  Savannah couldn't stop talking about the different bugs, what their names were, where they are found and what they eat, etc.  She even took a bug book we picked up for her to bed last night, and passed out...probably dreaming about hiking and exploring nature more. :-)

If you are looking for fun things to do with the kids during summer vacation, why not check out local nature and wildlife sanctuaries in your area, or simply go hiking and try and find and identify different bugs along the way.  Usually the girls will last an hour tops outdoors doing a particular activity.  But, yesterday, we had to pull them kicking and screaming to the car to go home, as they didn't want to leave.
