--GIVEAWAY OVER...Congrats to Steve who won the portable charger!!!!--
Wow, time is sure flying by. I still can't believe tomorrow will be June 1st. Weren't we just getting ready for the holidays and making new year's resolutions? Now, we are planning summer trips and birthday parties, and looking forward to the warm weather to arrive. Oh, and did I mention bathing suit season? How is that going for you?
My resolution for last year was to shed the excess baby weight from my girls' births in 2010 and 2011, which seemed to hang around. I finally received my weight loss goals a few days shy of Christmas.
I thought that losing the weight would be hard. I was wrong. Instead, keeping it off is the hard part. I have found myself over the past few months going up and down on the scale. During the cold winter months, I would reach for snacks while tending to the girls. And, because it was too cold to go running or get ready to go to the gym, I found my pounds slowing inches back on. But, last month, after I found myself 8 lbs. above my goal set last year, I had to revisit my fitness plans and go through the cabinets and get rid of the sugary snacks that found their way on the shelves. And, now that the warmer weather is here, I am making a point to take the girls for a stroll up the long hill in our neighborhood, or to the park for some outdoor fun. Running around is great for the three of us, and I am finally seeing these unwanted pounds slowly melting away again. Hopefully, by the time our summer trip to a local water park in a few weeks rolls around, I will not be self conscious when I put my bathing suit on for the summer, as I will be back down to the weight I was when I welcomed in 2014 with my husband, in a dress that I purchased in the size I was prior to having my girls. :-)
I know that my weaknesses are sweets and treats, especially when I am home with the girls and need to get a boost of energy. Instead of spending a few extra minutes making a wholesome breakfast or lunch, I find myself picking...usually on less than healthy salty or sugary snacks. But, thanks to a recent raid of my pantry and kitchen shelves, we know longer have sweets laying around -- so, this has helped immensely when it comes to having to make a point to eat breakfast so i am not hungry mid morning, or reaching for fruit or yogurt that we now make a point to have on hand in the fridge at all times. I am not alone in enjoying these more healthier options, as the girls now look forward to fresh fruit as a snack, and we make a point to sit down at the kitchen table to enjoy breakfast each morning -- something that we hadn't been doing, as we always seemed busy or on the go.
How are your resolutions going? Have you found yourself giving up on them now that we are mid-way through the year? What could you do or what better choices could you make to make sure you stay on track to reach your resolutions this year? I know it is hard to stay focused, but I know you can do it! So, don't give up. Even if you are finding yourself like me and adding a few pounds to the scale, you still have time to make better choices or changes to your lifestyle and lose that weight, or at least feel better about your overall health.
