When it comes to providing healthy snack options for the girls, I always make a point to keep yogurt pouches in the fridge, ready for them to grab and enjoy when they get ready. And, they are also great for on-the-go snacking, as they are virtually mess free...that is, if your children don't squeeze the pouch too much and have the yogurt squirt out the top. :-)
I have shared in the past how my girls go through a picky eater stage. Well, it is really Savannah who only likes a handful of things, and when Bella sees this, she says she doesn't like foods she would have otherwise eating. Go figure. Kids never make this easy, right? :-) But a few years ago when we were vacationing up in NH where my family has a summer home, we took the girls to the Stonyfield Yogurt Plant, and took a tour. Bella was just a baby then, but Savannah had fun watching the movie and seeing how the yogurt was made. Then, the fun part came -- sampling the different Stonyfield products. Knowing that Savannah was a picky eater then, we weren't expecting her to want to try the different samples yogurts offered. But, she surprised us and tried each and every yogurt sample given to her. Maybe she was having a good day food wise, or maybe she just saw all the other kids sampling and enjoying the yogurt that she didn't want to miss out. Either way, we just watched her as she tried each one, and would "yum" or "this one I like."
Ever since our visit to the Stonyfield Visitor Center, we have continued to purchase and stock the fridge with their yogurts for babies, toddlers and kids. It seems like every few months they come out with a new product to add to their growing and oh so popular yogurt line made especially for children in mind.
And, with that said, I was excited to be given the opportunity recently to sample new Stonyfield Organic yogurt pouches, which are available in a variety of flavors for babies, toddlers and kids. I was sent five FREE product coupons to pick up the different yobaby, yotoddler and yokids yogurt pouches that I thought my girls would like. Decisions, decisions. Just look at the flavors available with this new line of organic yogurt pouches for children of all ages from Stonyfield...
Usually, I like to go to the market by myself, as I can get in and out of the store quicker, but is it also my excuse for "me time." How about you? Oh yeah, and without kids, I don't have to say "no" as we go through the checkout and they see toys and candy, and want one or throw a fit when I get it for them. But, this time around, I was coming home from a class with Savannah and took her to pick up a handful of these new organic yogurt pouches to try. I wish you could have saw her browsing the yogurt aisle. And, when I showed her the row of Stonyfield organic yogurt pouches and asked her to choose a few, she took them of the shelf one by one, flipped them over and pretended to read the back for the ingredients. Then, she turned to me and said, "this is a healthy snack and one you would be proud to give me." I had to take a double take, not just because it was a long sentence, but that my daughter, who will be 4 yrs. in July said, cleanly, and meant it. I guess all my talking about the importance of healthy snacking is rubbing off on her. :-)
Even though I had 5 FREE product coupons, we ended up buying two of each flavor from the three lines -- yobaby, yotoddler and yokids, so that they could try them out and see which was their favorite. When we got home, Savannah lined some of the up on the table and did a show-and-tell with Bella, describing how they taste (even though she hadn't tried them yet), as well as going over the different flavors, based on the images on the front of the pouch. Savannah, acting like a mommy to Bella asked her which ones she wanted to try first. Bella grabbed a few and took a seat, waiting to the taste testing to begin.
Luckily, the girls had both eaten dinner, before they twisted the caps to their Stonyfield Organic yogurt pouches, and sampled. I loved watching them be food critics, as they talked about the different flavors they tasted. "I taste blueberries, "I taste strawberries," were just a couple things I heard the girls say. I, too, got in on the fun and tried a few of the flavors.
What I love most about Stonyfield and line of yogurts for both adults and children is that the flavored yogurts are not overly sweet and don't contain artificial flavors. The last thing I want to give my girls is a super overload snack that contains artificial this and artificial that. They deserve so much better when it comes to healthy snacks, and Stonyfield delivers every time!
When I asked the girls to tell me their favorite flavors, they looked at one another before saying, "all of them!" I guess it was good that I bought one of each, so that they could like them all. :-) Personally for me, I liked the blueberry and the strawberry banana yogurt pouches.
And, because Savannah is still a picky eater, I love being able to give her yogurt pouches like these that contain both fruit and vegetables. She had no idea that the "strawberry-beet-berry" yogurt pouch contained beets, which she wouldn't not have eaten if served to her.
The new Stonyfield Organic yogurt pouches for baby, toddler and kids all contain whole milk yogurt, with Vitamin D added,. All of the Stonyfield organic yogurt pouches contain pure organic ingredients and never any high fructose corn syrup or artificial flavors, which as a parent to little ones, I love this piece of mind, knowing that what I am giving my girls is good for them. So, if you have children, why not consider picking up a sampling of the new Stonyfield yogurt pouches, which are also the first refrigerated organic yogurt pouch on the market, to share with your child(ren). These pouches will come in handy for on-the-go snacking, as a snack to add to your child's lunchbox, or just to have on hand in the house, when the kids come and ask for a snack.
