While others were playing MAGIC and other trading card games, I found myself drawn to Bella Sara, another trading card game that had magical horses and heroic female characters.  In addition to the card game, there was also an online mystical world -- this was at the height of the Internet taking off.  It was nice to see a trading card game that was geared towards girls and had girl characters on the cards instead of crazy looking creatures or wizards, etc.

So, when I heard about a movie coming out based on the 2006 trading card game I loved, I couldn't wait to see it.  Whenever I look for movies to watch with the girls, I like to see if they are Dove Family Approved Seal, and this one is.  Knowing this, I don't have to worry about inappropriate content and know that the movies have positive themes and messages.  This movie is very empowering for girls of all ages as it deals with teamwork, standing up for what is right and never giving up.

My girls and I had a blast watching this movie, and rooting Emma and Sara on, as they tried to take back the magical horse-filled land, "North of North" and save the ponies from the evil Ivenna.

Both boys and girls will enjoy this movie, but I like being able to share with my girls, and then showed off my trading cards I had packed away.  Maybe one day they will want to get into this trade card sensation, which is still popular today.  In the meantime, we get to enjoy this family-friendly feature length movie.
