Usually it takes me a few days to try out a product and write up a review. But, lately when it comes to food, maybe it is my sweet tooth kicking in, but I can't help but sample the treats and snacks sent the day that they arrive.
Yesterday was a crazy day, filled with appointment and driving all over. So, when I finally pulled into the driveway after 6PM, I couldn't wait to see what was in the few boxes left at the garage. The first thing I saw was stickers for My Grandma's of New England. My mouth started to water, and my eyes widened to see what tasty treats were enclosed. Even though I was tired, I had a spurt of energy to scoop the girls up and get them and the boxes into the house in one swoop. :-)
While the dinner was cooking on the stove, I started to open the boxes. As I was opening the box from My Grandma's of New England, my husband walked into the kitchen. Great timing! I was hoping to sneak a few aside to enjoy when I found a quiet moment these next few days. Usually when my husband sees sweets or treats come into the house, his diet and ban on sweets goes out the window and he is the one making trips to the kitchen to snack and sample.
"My Grandma's of New England started a sensation in 1990 with Grandma's old family recipe in a 250 square foot bakery, offering the finest coffee cakes available. Today, My Grandma's continues to grow, baking many varieties by hand six days a week. My Grandma's can send a freshly baked coffee cake to a friend, family member or business colleague with a personalized gift message to arrive as early as the next business day. Normal shipping is 2-4 business days."
I was so proud of myself, as I held off until after dinner to sample the three flavored coffeecakes that were included in the 9-mini bundt coffeecake sampler the kind folks at My Grandma's of New England sent my way. And, this was the first time in a while that my girls didn't fight with us about finishing their dinner, as they knew what the tasty reward would be when they finished. :-)
Do you think the girls enjoyed the Ted Williams All Star Chocolate mini coffee cakes from My Grandma's of New England? Here are a few photos I took of the girls going to town on their dessert last night.
As for my husband and I, we had planned to wait until the girls went to bed to make tea and enjoy this treat, but seeing how the girls were on a sugar high, we decided to join them and enjoy the cinnamon walnut and chocolate chip cakes, which we halved and shared, so that we could try both flavors. It was hard to choose a favorite of the two, as they both tasted amazing. I found myself eating every last crumb, and wishing I had just one more bite, as it was that good. :-)
I am so glad that we didn't wait until later in the night, as these mini coffeecakes were just the pick-me-up I needed after a long, crazy day. You would think that being from the Boston area that I would be familiar with My Grandma's, or have visited their Hyde Park location (1636 Hyde Park Avenue, Boston MA 02136) to purchase their coffee cakes? Unfortunately, I was left in the dark about this company and their coffee cakes -- but, thankfully not anymore. And, those I know who also didn't know about these coffee cakes from My Grandma's will now know, as I can't stop raving about them. My Grandma's of New England's cakes are made from the finest and freshest ingredients available. The moistness and flavor of their cakes are unmatched, and all cakes are handmade and certified Kosher under Orthodox supervision. Available in a variety of flavors, these cakes are trans fat free, contain no artificial colors, artificial preservatives or artificial flavors. In addition, all cakes are certified Kosher (dairy), and most are available in a lower fat version (except the Ted Williams All-Star Chocolate Coffee cake and the Pumpkin Spice cake).
I even asked my husband last night to get me a small coffee cake from My Grandma's of New England as my Mother's Day gift, and a large one for me to serve at our annual Mother's Day brunch I hold at my house. I can't wait for family and friends to enjoy a slice or two of this homemade coffeecake, which is full of flavor. I love how with the nut sampler we received that you could actually see chucks of walnuts. And, with every bite, you got a nut or two, which made each bite that much more tasty. :-)
If you are looking for a great gift idea for your Mother-in-law or another special mother-figure in your life, why not consider surprising them with mini cakes from My Grandma's of New England. You can choose to send a variety pack of "nut" or "no nut" varieties. The "nut variety, which was sent to review -- and, which I will be offering for giveaway (read on to learn how to enter) -- includes 3-cinnamon walnut, 3-chocolate chip and 3-Ted Williams Choc. The "no nut" variety, on the other hand, includes 3-Pumpkin, 3-lemon poppy and 3-Blueberry mini cakes. You can also choose to order 9 3.4 oz. true mini Bundt cakes in a particular flavor. How about enjoying pumpkin spice or Granny Smith Apple with some tea, or as part of breakfast in bed on Mother's Day.
Or, if you find yourself an on-the-go mom, who is always bringing the kids to and from classes, sports, events, etc., these mini cakes from My Grandma's of New England also make for great on-the-go snacks. Packed with lots of flavor (I can't wait to try the banana nut and New England Blueberry varieties), these cakes will become an instant favorite of anyone who tries them.
In addition to Mother's Day, these cakes would also be a great gift idea for Father's Day, birthdays, thank you's, and even corporate holiday gift giving. The hard part will be deciding if you will order the mini cakes, or go with the large size cake, which weights 3.1 lbs. and is 10" in diameter (serves 16-20 people). You can freeze the cakes up to a year, or leave in the refrigerator for 14 days. But, I am guessing that once they arrive at your doorstep, they will not make it more than a day or two. Out of the nine mini cakes we were sent last night, I managed to hide two in the fridge for my husband and I to enjoy this evening after the girls go to bed. :-)
