Dedans et Dehors

"Parlez-vous français?" Now your child may answer “Oui” as Whistlefritz, the award-winning producer of the Spanish for Kids language immersion media, announces the launch of French for Kids, where kids are introduced to one of the world’s most spoken languages.  Available May 13, 2014 the initial titles in the launch are Dedans et Dehors (Inside and Out) DVD (SRP $19.99) and Allons Danser! (Let’s Dance!) musical CD (SRP $14.99).

Having a husband who is from another country, my girls are benefiting from learning two languages, as they grow p.  In addition to learning new English words to add to their growing vocabulary, they are also learning Spanish words, too.  I think this is amazing, as in today's day and age, you really need to know another language, preferably Spanish, as more and more people from different ethnic backgrounds migrate to the US.

When I was working as a health educator, I found that I had to have health education literacy I created and handed out to patients and the community translated into other languages, so that more people could benefit from this valuable information.  Another popular language people asked to have this literature translated into was French.  I remember taking a year of French in middle school before electing to study Spanish through the remainder of my schooling, both in high school and college.  You would think with the nine plus years, and the fact that I married someone from a Spanish-speaking country, that I would be bilingual by now.  Unfortunately, I have learned that the older you are, the harder it is to learn a new language.  Knowing this firsthand, I am pro-active when it comes to introducing new languages into my girls' language development.  While they don't know it now, as they get older and join the workforce, they will find this as a benefit to what they have to offer.

Seeing that I stay home with the girls all day, and don't speak fluent Spanish, I have to rely on educational DVDs and CDs that help teach the language.  One interactive program I have been using and have seen results from is Whistlefritz.

Complete Collection

This interactive language-learning program teaches children new languages through the use of games, skits and songs.  Kids of all ages will love watching the DVDs, as well as listening to the accompanying CDs on the go.  Within just a few weeks of starting this fun interactive learning program from Whistlefritz, I found my girls using new words, and forming short sentences, which was truly amazing.

"Recommended by parents, teachers and critics, Whistlefritz language immersion DVDs blend live-action with lively animation and amusing characters that catch the eye and engage the imagination.  CDs feature catchy original tunes and native speakers for an authentic flair!  Whistlefritz’s programs continue to win honors from some of the most trusted names in children’s media, including Parents’ Choice Foundation, Dove Foundation, KIDS FIRST! and Dr. Toy, as well as top reviews in such prestigious publications as Booklist, School Library Journal and Video Librarian. "
Recently, I had the opportunity to review the new French DVD and CD with my girls from Whistlefritz.  I wasn't sure how they would react, as I had only been teaching them in English and Spanish.  But, being familiar with this interactive program and the types of songs, skits and games used to teach words for everyday objects, they sat and watched the DVD from start to finish.  And, when my husband arrived home that night, they couldn't wait to share new words they learned in French.  They were so proud of themselves, and we were, too.

Dedans et Dehors

"Designed for children ages 2-7, Dedans et Dehors DVD has French subtitles and includes an easy-to-use translation guide for parents and teachers, who are first time learners of French. Dedans et Dehors has won a Parents’ Choice Silver Award, Mom’s Choice Gold Award, Dove Foundation’s Family-Approved Seal and a Mr. Dad Seal of Approval.  Booklist praises, “Catchy music, cute kids and clever animation make this a great choice.”

French Allons Danser!

"Get in the language-learning groove with Allons Danser! (Let’s Dance!) musical CD, a delightful collection of catchy original tunes and beloved traditional favorites performed by internationally acclaimed vocalists Marie-Louise Desage and Didier Prossaird. From “Bonjour Les Amis” to “Au Revoir,” kids and adults will be happily immersed in irresistible rhythms and catchy songs that introduce French words and phrases such as numbers (“Un, Deux et Trois”), parts of the body (“La Tête), Les Épaules”/Head, Shoulders) and children’s favorite topics “Quand Je Serai Grand”/When I’m Big.” A rollicking rendition of “La Vieux MacDonald” (Old MacDonald) puts a French twist on a beloved classic.  Recommended for ages 2-7."

I can't believe how well the Whistlefritz language work, and how much fun the kids have watching the DVDs and listening to the CDs in the car.  Having had the opportunity to try out two different languages and seeing results, I can't help but rave about Whistlefritz with family and friends who are looking to introduce a new language into their child's learning.  This program is great for homeschooling parents, or for families like mine where grandparents and extended relatives are non-English speaking.  Now, my girls can communicate with loved ones, and not miss out on family time due to a language barrier.
