Last week I shared a review of KORNER'D, a fun new game from Endless Games, which is also great for kids with autism. I had a fellow blogger assistance me with the review, and the review can be read here -- http://www.inspiredbysavannah.com/2014/03/kornerd-fun-new-game-from-endless-games.html.
In addition to being sent KORNER'D, which is one of a handful of new games from Endless Games, I was also sent Cupcake Race to play with my girls. This past weekend, we played this game and had a blast. While the game is geared towards children ages 4+, Savannah was able to grasp the concept and enjoyed playing the game countless times. :-)
There's a party tonight, and you (and your opponents) have been asked to bring the cupcakes. The Race is on! Be the first player to MIX, BAKE, FROST, and TOP your cupcake by visiting all 4 corners, and collect sprinkles along the way. The first player to reach the party with a completed cupcake and a sprinkle of each color wins the cherry to put on the top! "Mix it, Bake it, Frost it, Top it! So Much Fun, You Just Can't Stop It!
Ages: 4 and Up
Setup on the game was easy. Just note that this game comes with little pieces (sprinkles) that could pose a choking hazard for little ones, so make sure to store in a Ziploc bag when not in use. The only thing that you had to put together was the spinner on the game board. And, when not in use, you can take the spinner (which comes in 2 pieces) off, so that the game board will close flat and store properly.
Instead of going into detail about the instructions of this game, here they are for your reading pleasure:
Because this game is geared towards preschoolers (4+) the concept is easy to explain to players. And, within a matter of minutes 2-4 players can be playing this fun game.
I played the game a few times with Savannah, and because she kept beating me, she asked my husband to play with her for a challenge. Go figure. :-) He lost, too. You should have heard Savannah squealing with excitement as she moved around the game board collecting sprinkles for her cupcake and making her way to the party cherry to complete her cupcake and win the game.
This game would make for a fun birthday party game or even for family game nights. If you have older children, you can have them get the same color sprinkles in order to win, to make the game more challenging. :-)
Overall, Cupcake Race from Endless Games was a blast playing, and one game that I know Savannah will continue to ask to play. Not only does she have fun playing it (and winning), but she is also reinforcing her color matching and counting skills. I loved watching Savannah count forward and subtract when needed, as we played this game. It just reminded me that she is growing up, and is learning math. Oh, where did the time go? :-(
In addition to KORNER'D and Cupcake Race, here are some of the other new releases, now available from Endless Games:
