My Thoughts:
I was first introduced to the Really Woolly series when I received Really Woolly®: Bedtime Prayers for Savannah as part of a baby shower gift. I thought the book was so cute, not just for the adorable illustrations, but also because the bedtime prayers were easy for kids to recite and really showed little ones how much God loves them. I couldn't wait for the girls to be able to enjoy this book and start reciting the devotions and prayers that center on various aspects of God’s shepherd-like love for us.
Now that Savannah is getting older and curious about things, including God, I find books like the books in the Really Woolly® series, as a great way to introduce prayer, devotions and God with her. While in the womb, I would read the Really Woolly®: Bedtime Prayers to both girls. And, once they were born, would read this book to them at bedtime. We still continue to read this book today, and now they are starting to recite portions of the book along with me, as I read and flip through this durable board book.
So, when I was given the opportunity to review Really Woolly®: 12 Little Blessings, which will be available on March 11th, I knew that the girls would be just as excited as was...and they were! When they saw the book, Savannah fell in love with cover, which included the sheep, rabbit and chick he is used to see in the Really Woolly® Bedtime Prayers book.
I couldn't get the girls to wait until bedtime to read this book. After flipping through the book to admire the adorable illustrations, I snuggled up next to the girls and read this board book to them. While this book is perfect for children ages 3-7 yrs. old, my youngest Bella was able to understand, and counted along with Savannah as the 12 blessings were counted down. With each and every blessing, children are reminded that God sends his blessing and loves them. And, in addition to each blessing, there is a scripture and prayer that goes along with each.
Out of all the prayer books we own, this book really kept the girls engaged, as they liked counting down from 12 to 1. Now whenever I talk to Savannah about God, she is more aware him and can tell me the different ways that God blesses us, thanks to this easy to understand book. I will definitely be picking up another copy so that Bella has her own copy. When I am not reading this book at bedtime to the girls, they love pulling it from the shelf to flip through the pages, admiring the cute illustrations.
With Easter right around the corner, this would be the perfect board book to stick in your child's basket, and share each night at bedtime, as you introduce little ones to God, prayer, etc.
