"When was the last time you showed your Disney Side? Was it when your family entered the gates at Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort? Or maybe the last time you sang your favorite Disney tunes, or reminisced about your favorite Disney Parks attraction? Most everyone has a DisneySide - it’s that fun-loving, adventurous side that comes out to play when you’re feeling the Disney spirit!"
I was posed the above questions when asked to host a My #DisneySide @Home Celebration. If you were asked this question, how would you answer? For me, I get to show my Disney Side everyday, as my girls and I tune in daily to watch shows on Disney Junior featuring some of everybody's favorite Disney characters like Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Captain Hook, and the different Disney princesses.
We can't watch a show or movie on the Disney Junior or Disney Channel without getting up and dancing around, as we sing the catchy theme songs and songs that many of the hit shows include throughout the different episodes. There is someone about all things Disney that makes you smile. Even when I am having a stressful day or was up all night with the girls, as soon as anything Disney appears on television or comes over the radio, I can't help but smile. The songs are catchy and make you want to move and groove, and the characters each have their unique personalities that make you fall in love with them.
I was so excited when I found out I was chosen to be a Disney Side @Home Celebration host, and would be able to throw a party and invite family and friends. The only stipulation for attending my party...you have to love all things Disney. Not hard, right? While I like Grumpy, Dopey and Sleepy from the classic fairytale, Snow White, I didn't want these cast of characters crashing my party and putting a damper on it. Instead, I wanted everyone to come ready to have fun, let loose and celebrate all things Disney with my family and I.
And, to help with planning my party, I was sent a suitcase filled of goodies. Here is a photo I took of the girls as they waiting with anticipation to see what was inside the suitcase. I told them to cover their eyes, as I unzipped it. I like how I caught my youngest, Bella, peeking. Priceless! :-)
When I finally opened the suitcase, I couldn't believe all the goodies inside. From Mickey Mouse party supplies, tattoos and stickers to Photo Card Packs provided by HP to give to guest, along with white t-shirts for kids and adults to stencil and wear at the party, I was well on my way to planning a memorable #DisneySide @Home Celebration.
I knew I could plan a great party, but I also wanted to get my girls involved. So, we sat down to discuss what we would like the theme to be. Currently, my girls are going through a Jake and the Never Land Pirates phase and love all things Jake and Piratey. So, I wasn't surprised when they asked to through a pirate party. As I thought about it and all the possibilities with food and games, I had to agree a "Disney Pirate Party" would be fun.
Seeing that I received so many goodies and giveaway items for guests, I didn't go crazy with decorations or splurging on party supplies. Instead, I allotted a budget to food as I knew I would be having a lot of people over, and needed to keep them fed and happy. :-)
I began my party planning by visiting Pinterest and seeing what others did for Disney related parties. I couldn't believe how much stuff was out there as it related to Disney party ideas, foods, decorations and more. Trying to keep all the great ideas I wanted to remember in one place, I created my own #DisneySide @Home Celebration Pinterest Board, which you can see here -- http://www.pinterest.com/rmccoy1234/my-disneyside-homecelebration-party-ideas/.
Whenever I need inspiration or a creative product to do with the girls, I know I can find what I need at Pinterest. And, Pinterest was my lifesaver for this party, as it helped me plan the best Disney Pirates Party that guests are still talking about today. :-)

Here are some photos I took at our #DisneySide @Home Celebration --
Once everyone was seated at the table, I served up a fun pirate themed lunch, and finished the meal with cupcakes that Savannah had helped me make and decorate the night before. As the kids sat and ate their meal, I had the new Jake and The Never Land Pirates: Yo Ho Matey! CD playing in the background.
When I was not snapping photos or cleaning up, I was playing fun pirate themed games with the kids, or sitting down with them to watch some of their favorite Jake and The Never Land Pirates: Yo Ho Matey! episodes, which air daily on Disney Junior. The adults also had fun dawning pirate patches and hats. I even found a few plastic hook arms for guests to put when playing dress up for pictures.
Sorry I can't show you how much fun the adults had, as they would kill me if they saw photos of them acting silly and dressed up as pirates. While everyone has their own Disney Side, when it comes to my family and friends, Peter Pan and Captain Hook make a for a great Disney @Home Celebration. :-)
Disclosure: I was chosen to host a #DisneySide @Home Celebration. In exchange for hosting a party, I was sent a suitcase full of goodies to assist with my party. I was in no way obligated to promote or review the items. Instead, they were used to have a great party, which we did. All views shared are mine and mine alone.
