My Thoughts:
My girls were excited when I showed them a screener copy of "Peppa Pig: My Birthday Party," which I was sent to review. while the trailer above states that this is the first Peppa Pig DVD, there were a couple DVD releases from Entertainment One that are available for purchase and work on USA DVD players. I know this as the girls have duplicate copies of Peppa Pig: Muddy Puddles, so that we have a copy to watch at home, and one to leave in the car or bring to Nana and Papa's house. :-)
After first catching a Peppa Pig episode on YouTube a few years back, my girls were instant fans of Peppa Pig, a fun loving talking pig. I knew after watching this UK episode that once Peppa Pig launched in the USA that it would be hit with young viewers --- and, I was right! In addition to DVDs, fans of this hit animated series, which airs on Nick Jr., there are also a handful of Peppa Pig books available as well as a line of Peppa Pig toys including talking plush and playsets.
My girls have a Peppa Pig tea set that they love using. When they hold the pink teacups to their mouths, there is a pig snout on the bottom of the cup, making it look like they are little pigs -- too cute!
Since receiving a screener copy of this upcoming release, my girls have been in Peppa Pig heaven. Whenever it comes time to watch a movie or a television show, they choose to watch this DVD. Each of the fourteen episodes are entertaining, and will have your little ones imitating Peppa and her family as they oink. The theme song is simple yet catchy, with a handful of oinks of varying tones thrown in. My girls can't help but dance and spin around as they sing the intro and include their own unique oinks. :-)
Out of the 14 episodes that make up this DVD, I have to say that my girls' favorites are the first two -- "My Birthday Party" and "The Playground." In "My Birthday Party" Peppa's dad pretends to be a great magician for Peppa's birthday party.
While his tricks don't go off as planned, the kids are entertained none the less. And, in "The Playground," Peppa shows off the different playground equipment to her little brother George. If you are familiar with the Peppa Pig show then you know that more times than not things don't go as smoothly as planned. And, this is the case in this episode, as Peppa Pig gets stuck in the tire swing, and then Daddy Pig gets stuck going down the slide. But, with help from friends, Peppa gets unstuck and the kids push Daddy Pig down the slide. Who knew a day at the playground could be this much fun. Leave it to Peppa and her friends to share fun adventures your children will love, as they ask you to play this DVD again and again.
We have had this DVD for only a week now, but have watched all 14 episodes half a dozen times. Just yesterday, when I took the girls to visit my parents for the day, they stayed entertained for the 1 1/2 hr. car ride each way by watching this Peppa Pig DVD. I am expecting Savannah to ask for a Peppa Pig birthday party as her birthday in July approaches. Who knows, maybe her daddy or Papa will pretend to be a magician and perform tricks just like Peppa's dad did.
And, don't forget to watch the bonus features with your little one, as Peppa Pig will help teach them the alphabet and counting. Both my girls loved these bonus features, and they helped reinforce the alphabet and counting with Bella, who is learning them now.
