My Thoughts:
I was so excited to hear that Mill Creek Entertainment was releasing additional iconic television series to DVD. If you follow my blog, then you have probably read my review on a dozen other hit television shows from back in the day including Wings, Highway to Heaven, and so many more. I couldn't help but jump at the opportunity to review some of the upcoming DVD releases, which will be available to own starting tomorrow. I was sent Dilbert: The Complete Series, Married with Children: 2 Season Combo Pack and The Cosby Show: Two Season Combo Pack to review, thanks to the kind folks at Mill Creek Entertainment. I don't know about you, but when it comes to television series, I love being able to pick up the complete series, or at least a couple of season at one time. Not only does it take up less space on the DVD shelf, as the DVDs are included in one DVD case, but I can have a mini marathon of sorts at home, watching with family and friends, and reminiscing about days gone by.

Did you have a favorite show you used to watch growing up? Growing up in the 80's and 90's, I would tune in with my family to watch The Cosby Show. This was my introduction to amazing Bill Cosby and his comedy, and he and the other cast members provided hours of laughs back then, and to this day, when I catch the reruns on television. But, thanks to Mill Creek Entertainment, I don't have to hope to stumble upon a rerun of this show, and another favorite of my, Married with Children, as I simply have to pop a DVD in the DVD player and sit back and enjoy some great laughs.
There is something about the sitcoms of the 80's and 90's that make viewers like me want to tune in time and again. Maybe it is because they aren't filled with tons of drugs, crime or profanity. I have so many fond memories of my childhood and teen years sitting around the television after school with my brothers watching the Huxtables and then after dinner catching up with the Bundy's. No matter the day I was having, there was something about shows like these that seemed to make my cares and stress go away for the 30 min. to 1 hr. that the show was on. And, the next day at school, I would usually chat with friends in the cafeteria about the shows.
Fast forward 20+ years, and I am laughing while watching these two hit shows, and talking about them with my husband. He, too, grew up watching these shows with his family, so it is great to hear him talk about his favorite scenes and episodes, as we watch the shows on DVD. If I was to put items in a time capsule, shows like these would be what I would want to include. They are a far cry from the television families we see on television nowadays, and really were a great way to spend quality family time together. While my girls are too young to sit down and watch these shows, I hope to one day so them what their parents used to watch growing up, and see what they think of them, compared to the shows they will fall in love with and want to watch over and over again, after school and dinner.
In addition to the two above mentioned sitcoms, I was also sent Dilbert: The Complete Series. While this iconic show only had 30 episodes to its run, it drew in a following that still loves Dilbert to this day. It was a treat to watch this show with my husband over the weekend, as he never saw it. He loved the office humor this show brought, and couldn't pry himself away from the television. We started watching the series late Friday night, and kept putting the show on Saturday and then last night, until we finished all 30 episodes. If you work in a corporate office setting, you can't help but find yourself comparing yourself to Dilbert and his co-workers. And, if you love to laugh, this complete DVD series will provide you with 10+ hours of laughs. I can see this DVD making for a great Valentine's Day gift for that someone special who loves shows like The Office, or was a fan of Dilbert.
Why not pick up some of these iconic television shows when they release on DVD from Mill Creek Entertainment tomorrow, and relive your youth, while reminiscing with family and friends, as you watch these iconic television shows for the umpteenth time. They never get old, and the laughs keep coming! :-)
