"Looking for a new holiday tradition to start with family and friends this coming season?  Look no further than THE CAROL BURNETT SHOW: CHRISTMAS WITH CAROL ($12.95, available November 12), the TV comedy legend's very first holiday-themed DVD release!  This all-new collection brings together three hours of some of the most memorable holiday episodes and sketches from The Carol Burnett Show, sure to have viewers ho-ho-ho'ing their way through the holidays.

This new DVD features two complete holiday episodes including a visit to the Higgins household with "The Family", Mr. Tudball and Mrs. Wiggins awkwardly observing the "mistletoe" tradition, and Tim and Vicki carefully measuring Carol for a very special holiday gift.  Add in hilarious bonus sketches such as "Christmas Night Quarrel" w/ Carol and Sid Caesar, "Charwoman: Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and a Q&A w/Jonathan Winters and you have a new Christmas tradition, to be watched and rewatched with the family every holiday season!"

My Thoughts:

Growing up with two older brothers, I always had to watch what they were watching on television after dinner.  One show that I remember watching with them and my parents was The Carol Burnett Show.  I so wanted to dislike this show, as it was on the same time as one of my favorite shows, which I would have to miss, but I couldn't -- it always left me in stitches, laughing so hard.  And, as I got older,  I found myself tuning in to reruns of this show, and remembering back to when I was a kid and used to sit around the big television on the floor with my brothers, while my parents were on the loveseat, watching this hilarious show.

While all the episodes were funny, I used to love the holiday episodes of The Carol Burnett Show.  Some of the holiday themed sketches my family could relate to, and we would talk about it during commercial breaks.  :-) If you grew up in the 70's, then you probably watched this show...so, I will not bore you with a recap of the episodes.  What I will say is that I loved the two holiday episodes chosen to include on this recent DVD release, especially because of Alan Alda, who played Eunice's younger brother, Larry.  This is by far my favorite television holiday episode, and I laugh just as hard, or more, each and every time I watch it. :-)

Fans of The Carol Burnett Show will definitely want to pick up this new DVD release and add to their collection.  And, with the holidays fast approaching, this is one DVD that you can give someone who grew up in the 70's, and know they will enjoy.  You just can't help but laugh as soon as the first episode begins, and continue long after the DVD is done playing. :-)
