My Thoughts:
Even though we only received this DVD last week, we have already seen it half a dozen times. While Savannah loves My Little Pony, there is something about cars and tractors that make her go crazy. When we are out in the stroller or going for a car ride, she is pointing out the different cars, and says "Hi" to John Deer driving by. :-) So, when we are not watching her ponies or princesses on television, we are catching the latest episode of "The Adventures of Chuck & Friends", which airs on The Hub TV Network. If you haven't seen this show, it is about a talking car named Chuck, and the adventures and fun he has with his other car friends and parents. If it wasn't for tuning into The Hub TV Network to catch My Little Pony, I don't think we would have ever known about this show.
The first time we saw it, Savannah thought it was based on the popular talking cars movie. But, then after watching it a few times, she had all the character names down, and started telling her Daddy about the show each night when he got home. Now, I can say that Savannah and Arabella are true fans of Chuck & Friends, and love watching and collecting DVDs which are released from Shout! Factory. Like the other The Adventures of Chuck & Friends DVDs we own from Shout! Factory, this upcoming DVD (releases on 8/13), it has become an instant hit.
As a parent, I love this show as it shares lessons for children, including the importance of teamwork, friendship, perseverance and family. Out of the 10 episodes, my girls both found "Choosy Chuck" to be their favorite. This episode has Chuck having to choose between his friends, when it came to bringing only along to the show. His parents only had 1 extra ticket for him to give a friend. And, when Chuck told his friends this, they went out of their ways to try to prove that they were Chuck's "best" friend, at times trying to outdo the others. But, when it came time to choosing, Chuck just couldn't choose between his friends. If he couldn't bring them all, then he didn't want to go. He didn't want those not chosen to feel bad or miss out. And, to settle things, he told his parents to keep his ticket and to go and enjoy themselves. I will not spoil the ending and tell if you Chuck went. You will have to pick up a copy of this upcoming DVD release to watch with your kids to find out. :-)
