My Thoughts:
I ended up watching this movie with my 8 and 10 year old niece and nephew over the weekend, who were visiting. The oldest had caught this film when it first aired on Nickelodeon back on May 27th, and was happy to see it available on DVD, as she like it, and was eager to see it again. My niece gave me the whole run down of the movie prior to watching, as she saw it already, as well as read the book, "Nicky Deuce: Welcome to the Family" of which this movie was based on. Just seeing how excited she was in telling me about this movie, I knew we would be in for a treat. After the girls went to bed, we put this movie on. Even though it was only a little over an hour in length, it was jam packed with laugh out loud fun and adventure.
My husband walked in and saw the three of us on the couch laughing, and had to stop what he was doing to see what was so funny. He caught the tail end of a joke, and also started laughing with us. He left the room, to put his computer away, only to return to sit and watch the rest of the movie with us. :-)
Fans of this book, or those who love Nickelodeon original movies will love Nicky Deuce, which is great for tweens/teens and even families to watch together. We had a blast watching it, and I know that my niece and nephew, who I ended up sending the DVD home with, will be watching this hilarious movie over and over again. :-)
So, if you are looking for a fun family film to end the summer with, why not consider Nicky Deuce? I was especially happy to see James Gandolfini in this film, who had recently passed away from a heart attack while on vacation with his son. He truly was an amazing actor, and made the Sopranos the hit it was. :-)
