Arriving on CD from Justin Roberts on July 23rd -- Recess (Review)

Disclosure:  I was sent a copy of this CD from the vendor in order to write up an honest review.  The views shared are mine and mine alone.

Come On In!

I was only recently introduced to Justin Roberts and the Not Ready to Naptime Players, when a fellow mommy blogger recommended their 2010 release, Jungle Gym, for the girls and I to listen to.  I was looking for a fun pop-style album that would get the girls moving and jumping around, in hopes to get out some of their excess toddler energy. :-)  After listening to Jungle Gym myself the first time, I was hooked.  I am a huge fan of pop songs and couldn't believe that their was a children's artist that made such great high-energy pop albums like Justin Roberts does.  I made a note to keep an eye out for future releases, and was excited when a press release was sent to me inbox informing me about "Recess" by Justin Roberts, which is available for purchase on July 23rd.

What I loved most about this new CD release was how it makes you want to get up and move around.  Loud electric guitars paired with catchy melodies and vocal harmonies make each of the 12 songs hit songs with kids and parents alike.  If you are familiar with Justin Roberts work, then you know what a great songwriter he is.  His songs are like onions, you have to peel away at the different layers of the song, to appreciate the underlining meaning of them.  Parents and children, when listening closely to the song lyrics can figure out the meaning of each songs -- which I love.  :-)  And, once you know what Justin Roberts is singing about, it makes listening to each of catchy songs that much more enjoyable.

It is hard to choose a favorite song, as each of the 12 songs on this upcoming CD were fun to dance around to.  I will say that the girls were especially fond of "Hopscotch," while I found myself hitting repeat in the car for "Looking for Trains."

Hopefully, one day we will be able to see Justin Roberts in concert, as I know the girls will love hearing his pop songs in person. :-)

If you enjoy listening to children's pop music with your kids, then you will want to check out Justin Roberts upcoming CD release, "Recess," when it becomes available for purchase on July 23rd.
