Synopsis:

"One boy, one balloon, and one great big universe! "It's unPOPpable!" said the boy, as he stood on his big yellow balloon. The magical story of an unPOPpable, unSTOPpable yellow balloon and an extraordinary journey beyond the stars. But what goes up must come down—and with a big bang!"

My Thoughts:

Have you or your child ever wondered what happens when you release a balloon either by accident or on purpose into the air?  Where does it go? Does it pop along the way?  "UnpOppable" by Tim Hopgood, who also wrote "A Dog Called Rod" and "Here Come Frankie," will take you and your child on a balloon ride into the air to see what happens when a little boy's balloon floats away.

In this storybook, which is beautifully illustrated with amazing colors that make the pages come alive and POP, will have you traveling high up into the air past the moon and stars, and even past the Milky Way.  The little boy is so sad that his balloon floated away, and wonders if he will ever see it again.  He believed that his yellow balloon was unPOPable and unStopable...so the sky's the limit to how far it would travel in the universe.

Having read many books recently as part of this summer reading feature, I have to say personally that this is my favorite book so far.  I have been a fan of Tim Hopgood's since I shared his book, "A Dog Called Rod," which has sparkly glitter, that my girls love to touch and feel, so I knew what an exceptional children's author he was.  But, Tim Hopgood has outdone himself in this book, which follows an unPOPable yellow balloon.

Will this balloon eventually pop?  And, how far will it travel into the air?  You will be surprised when your reach the last couple of pages to find out the outcome.  It truly is a sight to see! :-)  This is one book I will be pulling from the shelf to share with my girls when they ask for a good book.
