My Thoughts:

Like any young child, my daughter, Savannah, is going through different phases.  One minute she was infatuated with everything Mickey Mouse or Toy Story, and now she can't get enough of My Little Pony.  While my husband is not a fan of the show or toys, I can't help but embrace Savannah's new love (at the moment), as I used to love My Little Pony as a child. :-)  So, while Savannah still plays with her other toys, her room is currently decked out in pony themed posters, wall stickers, and the floors are covered with her growing pony collection.

So, when I heard about "My Little Pony: Under the Sparkling Sea" by Mary Jane Begin releasing from LB Kids, I had to get my hands on a copy of this book, to share with Savannah.  And, when it arrived, Savannah went crazy, dancing around the kitchen singing the "My Little Pony" theme song to me, and asking to have the book read to her.  I knew she wouldn't be able to wait until bedtime to read the book to her, so I promised her we would read it after lunch.

After lunch, Savannah and Arabella ran over to the couch to grab a seat, and waited for me to sit down with the book.  Before I could begin reading, Savannah asked for me to flip through the pages, so she could admire the ponies.  We must have looked through the pages half a dozen times before I was finally able to begin reading the story to her.

The story takes the ponies into a new territory, in this undersea adventure.  Twilight Sparkle and her pony friends travel to the underwater realm, Aquastria, ruled by King Leo.  Upon arriving, they learn of the long-standing feud between the seaponies and the mermares, who compete each year in the Aquastria Race for the Purple Pearl.

While the story cute and easy to read and understand for even the littlest of listeners, the main draw of this book is definitely the detailed colorful illustrations of the seaponies, mermares and the overall beauty of Aquastria.  Savannah kept asking if we could go here for vacation, as it was simply amazing! :-)  I am so glad I had the opportunity to review this book and share with the girls, as it has become an instant hit in our house, and a must read every night at bedtime.  And, when my husband or I are not reading this book to the girls, they are flipping through the pages themselves, admiring the seaponies and other underwater creatures.

This is a must have book for any "My Little Pony" fan, and one that will be read again and again.
