Synopsis:
"Be who God made you to be.
Pro cyclist Chris Carmik is no stranger to victory, and he has the
trophies and fame to prove it. He won’t settle for anything but being
the best, even if chasing personal glory means neglecting his duty to
lead as a husband and father. With his focus on his career instead of
his family and faith, Chris’s only worry is his next win - until he's
suddenly forced to face the most profound of losses.
When an unexpected tragedy takes the life of his young daughter, Chris finds his own life changed in an instant. After years of climbing rugged trails, he hits rock bottom. Now, estranged from his grieving wife and consumed with guilt, Chris struggles beneath the weight of his selfish past. But when he surrenders everything to Christ and begins living for others, Chris finds peace where once there was only pain - and resolves to rebuild his life and serve his family as God intended."

My Thoughts:
Ever since having the girls, I seem to cry at the drop of a hard -- even watching sad scenes in cartoons and animated movies with the girls. So, I try to watch movies I know will make me cry until after the girls are in bed, that way they will not wonder why Mommy is sad, and I have to explain that I was just moved by a scene or a movie as a whole. After watching the above trailer prior to receiving this DVD, I knew that it would be a great family movie to watch, and on that would make me cry. And, boy did it ever. :-) As soon as the movie began, all the way until the final scene, I kept reaching for tissues. I was crying tears of sadness when Chris Carmik lost his daughter in a car accident, and the again when he helped train a new pro cyclist.
The movie follows along as Chris Carmik battles his inner demons and has to decide if he will turn his life back over to God, and to find his true purpose and priorities in his life. It is not until he loses his daughter that he he realizes just important they were, and how selfish he was being just concentrating on his cycling career. Pushed beyond his limits both emotional and spiritually, Chris has to decide what path he will take.
Don't worry I will not spoil the ending for you. I will just say that this is a very heartwarming and moving movie, and if you are prone to cry with sad movies, be prepared with tissues in hands, as you will need them. This is definitely one movie I will be watching again, and sharing with family and friends, for them to watch with their children (ages 12+).

Synopsis:
"For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God." 1 Corinthians 1:18 (NIV)
"As teenagers, skateboarding legends Brian Sumner and Christian Hosoi
helped shape a culture. They reached amazing heights and broke
countless records in
pursuit of innovation and greatness. They were stars. They were
heroes. As they will tell you themselves, they were fools — until they
decided to lay their sins at the foot of the cross and never look back.
They traded in the destructive habits of boys to serve Christ as
men, using their God-given talents to minister to America’s youth in a
way very few can.
Armed with hardcore biblical teachings, stirring testimony, and
authentic, street-level insight, Brian Sumner and Christian Hosoi speak
in a language that
can’t be faked — and work tirelessly to share a message that can’t
be ignored. Foolishness, from SkateBible, is a daily devotional. It’s a
witness tool. It’s an exciting, artfully made skate video featuring some
of the biggest names in professional skateboarding — men now living as
dedicated servants of the
Lord.
Empower your kids to stand against the pressures they face at
school. Give them what they need to be as fearless in their faith as
they are at the
skate park. Show them you recognize a truth they face every day:
In today’s world, a righteous life is the greatest rebellion. "
My Thoughts:
If you are looking for a way to introduce God and faith back into your child's life, Foolishness is a great movie to help you do just that. Tweens/teens will enjoy watching talented Christen men skateboarding, while Christian music plays in the background. When they are not showing off their talented skateboarding abilities, these men will sit down and share with the viewers personal accounts of their lives and how Christ saved them. I was surprised to see the pro-skateboarders talking about their pasts and then turning to God and becoming ministers.
The talented skateboarders and servants of the Lord will awaken your child's faith, as they hear direct accounts from skateboarders how turning their life over to Christ saved them. It was like a rebirth for the, and one they welcomed with open arms, and now life for Christ.
I ended up watching this DVD with my nephews, who had a lot of questions about faith and how scripture as referenced in this film can be applied to their lives, and how living for Christ, will open your eyes to a new way of living.
