Have you ever heard of See's Candies? I was first introduced to them back in college when my now-husband surprised me with a box of their bridge mix, along with their Nuts and Chews box on our first anniversary of dating. He knew I was a chocolate lover, and wanted to surprise me something that I had never tried before, in hopes to make our first anniversary memorable.
As soon as I tried a few of the chocolates from the Nuts and Chew box, I was hooked on See's Candies. I couldn't get over how each bite offered just the right amount of crunch, followed by a chewy center. And, don't get me started on the nuts (almonds and walnuts), as I couldn't believe there were large chunks of these in different chocolates. Unlike other chocolates I have tried in the past, this box of Nuts and Chews blew me away with how fresh the chocolate tasted. Now, every wedding anniversary since, my husband gets me a sampling of See's Candies, which we share together, and reminisce about the 18+years we have spent together, and all the delicious chocolate and sweet treats we have enjoyed from See's Candies during this time.
And, since welcoming our daughters in 2010 and 2011, my husband also uses Mother's Day as another holiday to spoil me with See's Candies. He knows how hard it is to be a stay-at-home mother and raise our two daughters, and how I put them first over my needs. Even though he reminds me daily about how much he loves me, and what a great job I am doing in raising our daughters, he wants me to make sure I take time and pamper myself. What better way to take some "me time" and relax, than with a box of See's Candies? :-) But, before he could pick up box for me to enjoy, I was sent a sampling of See's Candies Mother's Day candies and lollypops to enjoy. Don't worry, he is not getting out of buying me See's Candies, just because I was sent samples for review. :-) He said he is going to get me some of See's Candies chocolate walnut fudge, which I have yet to try. Can't wait.
Just look at the Mother's Day gift ideas See's Candies is currently offering on their website for Moms to enjoy:
Keepsake Duo -- Only $32.10
Keepsake Box -- Only $19.20
Petite Keepsake Box -- Only $10.60
Happy Mother's Day Box -- Only $18.50
Celebration Hearts -- Only $4.50
I am loving the butterfly keepsake box. After having seen it up close, I can say that it looks even more beautiful in person, than in the stock photo. In addition to the petite butterfly keepsake box, I was also sent their Happy Mother's Day box ($18.50), Bridge mix ($17.50) and Assorted Lollypops – Small Box ($7.60) to review.
Out of all the samples I was sent to review and enjoy, I have to say the one I was most excited about was the assorted lollypops. I have heard so much about them from friends over the years, but never tried them until I was sent the assortment box to review. I was in heaven when I tried the chocolate lollypop. It tasted like a rich, creamy piece of chocolate, mixed with a great cup of hot chocolate -- all molded into a lollypop. As I licked the lollypop, the flavor grew richer and tastier. I can see now why so many people love these lollypops from See's Candies, especially the chocolate and butterscotch flavors (which are also my two favorite lollypops flavors now). My second favorite item sent for review was the Bridge Mix. Like the Nuts and Chews box I was sent years ago, this box was also filled with crunchy nuts and a wonderful assortment of "Almonds, pecans and raisins mixed with mini Molasses Chips, See's
Caramel, California Brittle® and more, all wonderfully coated in premium
milk and dark chocolate." Every handful you munch off really does wake up your taste buds, and make you want to reach for more. :-)
But, if you are new to See's Candies and are looking for sample an assortment of their wonderful chocolates, I would highly recommend one of their 1 lb. assorted chocolate boxes, which is available in the lovely Happy Mother's Day Keepsake butterfly adorned box right now. This 1 lb. box includes See's Candies famous Assorted Chocolates, featuring pieces
such as Milk California Brittle, Dark Butterchew and Milk Bordeaux. Instead of trying to match up the milk or dark chocolate confections to the identifier card included in the box, I did a blind taste test and randomly chose chocolate to enjoy, and try to guess what they were. This was the best part of the review process, as I enjoyed sharing the Happy Mother's Day Box, which my husband, daughters and parents who had come to visit. As we sat around the table, the box of chocolates was passed around for everyone to take a piece. And, after we all took a bite of our chocolates, we all said "Mmm, That tastes good" in unison. :-) I know what I will be surprising my Mom with this Mother's Day. :-) How about you?
