"To celebrate Earth Month in April, I wanted to remind you about some fun AND educational kids’ apps from the National Wildlife Federation. Ranger Rick Jr. Appventures (for the iPad & ages 4-7) offers age-appropriate, ad-free content in a fun yet educational format through interactive animal games, videos, stories, puzzles, photos, jokes and more, including:
·
Photo Safari - a game that asks children to take photos of all the lions in Lars’ pride. (The real challenge is that kids need
to get up and move—with their iPads—to find them all!)
·
Animal Piano - an activity that lets children make music and play songs, using the sounds made by lions, elephants, and baboons.
·
Animal Builder - a drawing game that has children mix and match body parts to create both realistic and silly animals.
This month is a perfect time for young nature lovers to explore the world of Ranger Rick and his friends Ricky the raccoon and Lars the Lion in Ranger Rick Jr. Appventures. In addition to Earth Day, Arbor Day is also in April -- and, it’s also National Frog Month!
Ranger Rick Jr. Appventures was developed in partnership with Moonbot Studios, winners of the 2012 Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film!"

I downloaded this app yesterday for the girls, and it has already become an instant favorite. Savannah was even schooling her Papa today on how to play the piano on his new iPad. Every time she would hit the piano key and an animal sound would be heard, she would try to mimic it, and then giggle uncontrollably. This went up for about an hour -- and, each and every time she did it, you couldn't help but smile and laugh along. Even though she was laughing at the different animals sounds, she and Arabella were able to tell me what animals went with each sound, and vice versa. Savannah went to bed this evening, looking forward to playing with this new fun Ranger Rick Jr. app tomorrow. :-)
