My Thoughts:
Even though we were just hit with 28 inches of snow last week, I can't help but have spring on my mind. Prior to the snow, I was surprised to see the tulip beginning to peak out of the ground. And, with spring right around the corner, so comes my popular "Welcome in Spring with a Good Book" series, which will begin in a couple of weeks and run through the end of April. In addition to my review of new spring book releases for both children and adults, new spring-themed DVDs are also popping up. One DVD that children will enjoy is the upcoming "The Garfield Show: Spring Fun Collection," which becomes available on DVD on February 19th from Gaiam Vivendi Entertainment.
I grew up watching Garfield, and love being able to share this lovable, yet mischievous cat with my daughters. They were first introduced to The Garfield Show last year, when I received a Halloween-themed release from Gaiam Vivendi Entertainment. And, since then, whenever Savannah sees a cat, she points and says, "Garfield -- Meow, Meow". So, I knew that she would excited to watch this new DVD release, when I received a screener copy the other day. This upcoming DVD release is made up of 6 fun-filled episodes which have a spring theme to them.
The following episodes are included on this DVD:
1) The Big Sneeze
2) Farm Fresh Feline
3) The Bluebird of Happiness
4) Stealing Home
5) The Mole Express
6) Parrot Blues
Out of the six episodes, my daughters and I couldn't stop laughing and saying "Achoo" when watching "The Big Sneeze," which had Garfield's owner, Jon questioning if he is allergic to cats -- on, no! Each of the episodes are short in length and will keep even the youngest of children entertained. I love when DVDs offer up these short episodes, as I can either choose to play them all at once, or show only 1-2 in a sitting. We ended up watching all six during the first go-round, and have since watched "The Big Sneeze" and "Farm Fresh Feline" half a dozen times -- that is, when we are not catching The Garfield Show on The Cartoon Network. :-)
In addition to the releases I have been sent to review from Gaiam Vivendi, I have also added other Garfield DVDs to our collection by selling old DVDs my family is no longer watching and getting cash for them from musicMagpie. With Spring right around the corner, why not go through your current DVD, CD and video game collections and see which ones you no longer watch. MusicMagpie buys your used DVDs, CDs and games and gives you $$$ for them. How cool is that? Now you can declutter your house, make a little extra cash and buy new DVDs like The Garfield Show: Spring Fun Collection to enjoy with your family. Disclosure: I was sent a copy of this DVD from the vendor in order to write up an honest review. The views above are mine and mine alone.
