Holiday Memories are Made for Sharing -- What is Your Most Memorable Holiday Decoration Growing Up?

Watcha thinking about Charlie Brown?

The one thing I love about the holidays is being able to pull out the boxes of ornaments I have collected over the years.  When I married my husband and we put up our first tree together, I had gone with a Victorian theme, and decked the tree out with lace, Victorian dolls, beaded ornaments, etc.  And, then each year, I would pick up new ornaments to add to our collection, for each year we were married.  Now, 11 years later, I have a box full of ornaments that I acquired during trips, as a way to remind us of a particular memory, and even funny ornaments, just to make us laugh.

Then, when we welcomed our first daughter in 2010, we had to go out and buy ornaments that were baby proof and wouldn't break.  This added to the many boxes of ornaments we have collected over the years.  And, taking an idea from a friend, I began purchasing an ornament for each of my daughters to store in a box.  That way, when they get older, I can pass the box full of ornaments along to them, and they will have enough to decorate their own Christmas tree with.  I will love sharing the story behind each ornament with them, and hope they will pass these stories and traditional of buying ornaments with their children.

But, in the meantime, I am enjoying going through each box of ornaments, and reminiscing about the stories behind each.  Because this year will be the first Christmas without our beloved dog, Manny, who passed away over the summer, his ornament with his name on it is prominently displayed in the center of the tree, for all to see, and remember the good times we had with him.  Christmas was always his favorite holidays, as he loved the gifts and treats Santa would leave under the tree. :-)

As you are putting up your Christmas tree and going through your ornaments, do you have a favorite memory about an ornament from your childhood?  If so, I would love to hear from you.  Also, Febreze would love for you to share your cherished holiday memories on their Facebook page today.  They will be collecting the Top 10 best holiday memories from their fans - tell them yours and they may add it to the list!
