Can't Get Into the Holiday Spirit or Looking for Great X-Mas Music? -- Download NOW That's What I Call Today's Christmas (Review)
I don't know about you, but I love when the radio stations begin playing Christmas tunes non-stop from Thanksgiving through Christmas. Even if there is no snow on the ground and the tree isn't up yet, this holiday music really puts me in the mood. And, now that the girls are getting older and beginning to understand the holidays, they, too are enjoying the music.
Do you have a favorite Christmas song? You will laugh when you hear mine -- George Michael's Last Christmas rendition. If you have seen the music video you will think it is even more corny. But, whenever I hear this song, even in stores, I can't help but sing along (off key nonetheless). :-) In addition to this holiday favorite, I also love listening to other popular artists singing some of the classics we have grown to love during the holidays. So, when I saw that NOW That's What I Call Music came out with a new Christmas CD this year, I had to get my hands on a copy. Just look at the popular artists from all music genres and the songs they sing:
1. Carly Rae Jepsen –Mittens
2. Justin Bieber –Mistletoe
3. Train — Shake Up Christmas
4. OneRepublic –Christmas Without You
5. Coldplay — Christmas Lights
6. Norah Jones –It Came Upon A Midnight Clear
7. Sara Bareilles — Love Is Christmas
8. Gavin DeGraw — The Christmas Song
9. Lady Gaga –White Christmas – Live from “A Very Gaga Holiday”
10. Christina Aguilera –Christmas Time
11. Mariah Carey — Oh Santa!
12. Selena Gomez & The Scene –Winter Wonderland
13. Demi Lovato – Wonderful Christmastime
14. Rascal Flatts — Jingle Bell Rock
15. Grace Potter & The Nocturnals — Please Come Home For Christmas
16. Carrie Underwood –The First Noel
17. Sugarland — Silent Night
18. Trans-Siberian Orchestra — Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24 [Instrumental]
I am not a Justin Bieber fan, so skipped over this track. But, I know young Bieber fans that would buy this CD just to hear his rendition of "Mistletoe." I have to say, I loved all the holiday tracks, especially Train, OneRepublic and Coldplays songs. And, the CD couldn't have arrived at a better time, as I received it this afternoon, on Christmas Eve. With family coming over for dinner and to open gifts, I thought this would make for a fun addition to the festive evening ahead. And, boy was I right. Guests both young and old could name the artists, and enjoyed listening to each of the 18 songs on the holiday season. A few even bought the MP3 version to have on hand for the car ride home, and to listen to while they opened gifts from Santa the next morning.
So, if you are looking for a new holiday CD to add to your collection, why not pick up NOW That's What I Call Today's Christmas?" I would suggest buying the MP3 version now through Amazon or iTunes, and then purchasing the actual CD to have for next year. This holiday CD will definitely be receiving its fair share of playtime over the next 24 hours, and for years to come. And, I know that once you listen to a few of these festive tracks from today's popular artists, you, too, will agree that it is worth picking up and adding to your holiday CD collection. :-)
Merry Christmas, and best wishes for a safe and happy New Year!
Disclosure: I was sent a copy of this CD from the vendor in order to write up an honest review. The views above are mine and mine alone.
