I am always looking for healthy treats that I can have on hand to serve the girls, as well as for when family and friends stop by. A handful of our friends have gluten allergies, while others are either diabetic or prefer sugar free snacks due to weight issues, etc. So, with the holiday season upon us, I love scouring the Internet to find new foods that I can pick up and surprise these guests with. This is how I stumbled across Butterfly Bakery.
The folks at the Butterfly Bakery kindly sent along two of their products for me to sample with family and friends. I received their sugar free sliced lemon citrus creme cake, along with their sugar free double chocolate chip muffins.
They must have known I loved chocolate :-) This was the first thing I sampled straight out of the box. I couldn't get over the oversized muffins, which were chock full of tasty, melt in your mouth chocolate chips. With every bite I took, I got a mouthful of chocolate chips. Mmmm, just thinking about it is making me hungry. I ended up sharing two of the muffins with my husband and oldest daughter who also devoured them just as quickly as I did. They also preferred a cold glass of milk with their muffin to wash it down. I saved the fourth muffin for my breakfast the next day. Boy, was it a great pick me up, and was great to eat while preparing the girls' breakfast. I love foods like this that are quick and easy to eat, as I find that if I don't grab something before the girls get up or can eat it while preparing their breakfast, I skip breakfast all together. But, just knowing that I had saved this muffin for the morning, I was eager to start my day and savor the double chocolate chip muffin from the Butterfly Bakery.
As for the lemon citrus creme cake, I ended up serving this to my family who came by just before the holidays. I used it as a dessert, along with coffee and cookies, and it was a hit. At first, those who don't usually light lemon or citrus foods, were hesitant. But, after they saw the others enjoying their slices, they had to give it a try -- and, they loved it.
Prior to sampling these two sugar free baked goods from the Butterfly Bakery, I had not heard of this company. But, I am so glad I had the opportunity to try their goodies, and will definitely be buying their sugar-free and gluten-free baked goods. I am particularly interested in picking up the following to have on hand for our family Christmas party --
Don't they look yummy? I can't wait to sink my teeth into the No Sugar Added Blueberry Walnut Creme Cake.
