Synopsis:
Toddlers love friendly dragons, too--and now their time has come, with a beautiful board-book version of Puff, the Magic Dragon!
This sturdy new volume features Eric Puybaret's stunning art from the phenomenally successful and critically praised picture book. It's the perfect celebration of the 50th anniversary of Peter Yarrow and Lenny Lipton's beloved children's song.
My Thoughts:
Puff the Magic Dragon was a favorite childhood song/book growing up. I remember my grandmother giving a copy of it to my oldest brother, who flipped through it and put it on the book shelve. Intrigued by the color, I picked it up and began reading. Now, years later, I am able to share my love for Puff the Magic Dragon with my daughters. Don't you love when classics like this make their way into your children's hands.
At part of the 50 years celebration of this release, this new board book will have young children asking you to read it over and over again. And, you don't have to be a boy or lover of dragons to enjoy this cute story. The illustrations in this book are simply amazing, and will have both parents and children taking a moment or two after finishing reading each page to enjoy the fine detailing of each illustration. As you read this song/story, you will wish you were able to visit the land of Honalee, or have a friend like Puff the Magic Dragon. Young minds will love listening to the adventures Jack and Puff the Magic Dragon go on, and seeing the friendship and connection they have, as you read each page.
Even though 50 years have gone by since this song first released, it hasn't lost is luster and will continue to entertain generations for years to come. I ended up picking up a few more copies of this board book to give as baby shower gifts to close friends. When they saw the book in their baskets of goodies, all agreed that Puff the Magic Dragon held a special place in their heart growing up. And, now they will be able to share that love with their children. :-)
