In just a few weeks, we will be celebrating Arabella's first birthday on November 10th. I can't believe how fast the time is flying, especially with baby #2. Savannah turned two on July 19th, but it only feels like yesterday I was holding both my miracle babies in my arms for the time. They tell you that the first time you lay eyes on your previous bundle of joy and they look back at you, your heart melts -- well, they were right! And, I am ever so grateful to have had the opportunity to experience this moment twice in my life.
After being diagnosed with cancer in 2008, undergoing treatment and then being told I would not be able to have children, something in the stars aligned, as Savannah and Arabella were given to us. Being a cancer survivor, I don't take life for granted anymore, and cherish each day that I am given to be able to spend with my daughters and watch them go. And, as they grow, I continue to sort through their clothes and decide which outfits to save and store for them to use with their dolls or show them down the road how small they were once upon a time, and put together other piles to donate or give away. I have kept a few outfits from each of the girls set aside, including their first outfit worn in the hospital, the first outfit worn home and my favorite outfit of theirs, along with other keepsakes and mementos. On those days when I want to reminisce or see how lucky I am to have them in my life, I pull out my keepsake box and look through their outfits.
My mom has taught me well, in how to preserve these special garments. As part of my baby shower gift, she gave me 4 large bottles of Dreft detergent. I wasn't familiar with the brand, but now use it with every wash, including my husband and my clothing. Dreft is specially formulated to remove those pesky baby and toddler stains, while leaving clothes looking and feeling new. And, what I love most is that it is gentle enough and doesn't leave my daughters' sensitive skin irritated. As soon as I pull their clothes from the dryer, they smell baby fresh.
So, when it came time to washing and storing these precious outfits, I turned to Dreft. And, when I do my spring/fall cleaning, I make a point to wash clothes that I store, to keep them looking and smelling great. The same holds true for my keepsake box of their clothing, and the boxes I am storing away to share with them down the road.
Just the other day, I pulled out the clothes to give them a good wash for the fall, and couldn't believe how well they are being kept. They look brand new, and didn't have a musty smell you would expect from stored clothing. And, as I sat and held their little outfits up to my nose to smell, I swear I could smell "new baby smell" and memories of holding them for the first time and looking into their eyes, only to have them look back at me, came rushing back.
So, if you are a new or expectant mom, make sure you stock up on Dreft detergent to wash and preserve your little ones clothes. And, please enjoy every moment, even when you feel sleep deprived and they are fussing constantly, as it really does go by fast!
Whether you're a first timer or the greatest, grandest mother of them all, there's on thing moms have agreed on for over 75 years- Dreft makes your little one's fabric feel as clean and soft as can be.
This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Dreft. As a part of this program I received the product, the opinions and text are all mine.
