Did You Celebrate National Coffee Day on September 29th? I Sure Did :-)
This year I am seeing a lot of national days of celebration. Take for instance yesterday -- did you know it was National Pierogi Day? One of my good friends called and said she was taking the day off to make homemade pierogi to surprise her family with. And, before this, I held a coffee party for my girlfriends the week before last in honor of National Coffee Day on September 29th. Did you celebrate National Coffee Day? If so, I'd love to hear what you did. My husband started his AM that day by heading to the local coffee shop, as they were giving away small coffees on the house. Then, he made one final stop at the market to pick up last minute supplies I needed for my get together.
So, what do you do to celebrate a national holiday like this? Well, you don't have to go all out. I ended up spotlighting International Coffee and how easy this product makes serving up iced coffee without all the hassle. As a mom of two young girls, I found it hard to take quick trips to the local coffee shop to pick up iced coffees during the summer. And, I didn't have the time or patience to brew a cup of coffee, chill it and then add the necessary syrups to make a tasty iced coffee/pick me up. That all changed, when a friend turned me onto International Delights and their line of iced coffees, which are found in the dairy aisle at your favorite market.
Instead of all the extra steps it takes to turn freshly brewed coffee into iced coffee, International Delights offers up the following flavors, original, vanilla, mocha and caramel, all in a convenient half gallon paper carton. You simply refrigerate like you would any other dairy product. And, when you are craving an iced coffee, simply shake up the carton and pour into a glass filled with ice cubes. It is that simple!!! No more waiting hours for an iced coffee. Now, in a matter of seconds I can be sipping on a mocha, vanilla, original and now caramel flavored iced coffee, thanks to International Delights.
I couldn't believe I didn't know about this product before my friend told me, as I am a huge coffee lover, especially when it comes to iced coffee -- which I enjoy year round. So, how could I deprive my other girlfriends from not knowing about these drinks. This is one reason why I decided to hold a party to celebrate National Coffee Day. But, also I wanted an excuse to have a girls day. :-)
So, while my husband took the girls out for the day, I had a fun afternoon planned, with movies, gossip, pampering and iced coffees (virgin and with alcohol, Mmmm). As soon as the ladies arrived, they were whisked into the dining room, where I had set up a table full of pastries (homemade and store bought). The night before I had made a mocha coffee cake and mocha muffins from new recipes I found online, so was eager for the ladies to try and let me know what they thought of them. Then, the taste testing began. I first served up iced coffee that I had made myself for a comparison, and then offered each of the three flavors International Delights offers. Hands down, all the ladies like the flavor and creaminess of International Delights iced coffees. And, for those who were not aware of this product, like I was, they were excited to find that there were not extra steps needed, besides filling a cup with ice and pouring, to create a tasty treat.
Overall, we had a blast celebrating National Coffee Day, and can't wait for another national day to celebrate and get together. But, in the meantime, we can all have iced coffee whenever we want. I especially love filling a thermos with it and taking it on the go when I am out and about with the girls.
