We Are Loving Our New Area Rug from Mohawk Home (Review and Giveaway)

 

When we were searching for homes 5 years ago, on the top of my wish list was a house full of hardwood floors.  Because my husband and I both of year round allergies, we didn't want to have to worry about dust mites or pet danger lingering in the rugs.  After years of rugs in our other homes, we thought it would be easier to maintain and clean hardwood floors over rugs.  But, when deciding this, we weren't thinking about kids in the near future.  

Savannah arrived in 2010, followed by Arabella in 2011.  And, as soon as we had children in the house we realized the need for carpeting or at least area rugs.  As soon as Savannah started crawling and walking, we were afraid she would hurt herself when she landed on the hard wood floor, without any padding of a rug.  But, every time we went to the store to look at rugs, my husband and I couldn't agree on a style or type of rug. I wanted wall to wall carpeting, while my husband wanted scatter or area rugs.  I was afraid that with scatter and area rugs that they would slide around or move as the girls played on them, causing them to fall and hurt themselves.  Then, the issues with allergies and maintaining a rug (annual carpet cleaning, stain prevention, etc.) kept popping in our heads.  It wasn't until a few weeks ago that we finally decided on a carpet we both liked and that would fit in our home.  What did we go with?  Well, we choose the following 8"x10" area rug from Mohawk Home, along with their memory foam padding.  What do you think?

We love the unique design, and know it will mask spills and dirt (knock on wood we haven't had any yet), while providing the added comfort one would expect from a rug.  And, the girls are just loving it.  I wish you could walk barefoot on this rug, as you will see and feel just how soft and luxurious this rug feels under your feet. Even though my husband and I love the rug, I think the girls are having the most fun with it.  For Arabella, who has just begun crawling and walking while holding things, this rug provides her both comfort and security.  Instead of falling on hardwood, her falls will be padded.  And, the carpet is helping her gain the confidence she will need to let go of the furniture and take her first steps.  As for Savannah, she loves dancing around on the carpet, or laying on the floor to watch her favorite shows on television.  She loved the carpet so much that on the first night, she brought her pillows and blanket out in the living and camped out on her new area rug. :-) Here are some photos we have taken since putting the rug in the living room of the girls enjoying and showing off their brand new area rug from Mohawk Home:

Now that we finally have this area rug down, we love it -- I especially love walking on it bare foot in the AM or evening when it is cold and having my feet sink into the memory foam below the rug, while keeping my toes warm. :-)  I wish we had gotten a rug and memory padding like this years ago.  And, when we finally finish up setting  up Savannah's big girl room upstairs -- it had been put own hold for our last hooray summer vacation and the recent colds we all have had -- we will definitely be buying another Mohawk rug and memory foam padding to add that finishing touch to her room.  Not only will she be able to play and sit on this rug, but it will also help to keep her room warm once the cold winter months fall upon us.  She will have the comfort of walking on a cloud (as it feels like with the addition of the memory foam padding), and warmth of the rug when she gets out of bed in the mornings.  Now, to only decide on the design.  Ugh.  There are so many beautiful and unique options available, it will be hard narrowing it down to one.
