This past Monday I shared my Spotlight on Mom interview with Karri Gregor of KinderBach. If you missed it, click here to read it now -- http://www.inspiredbysavannah.com/2012/09/spotlight-on-mommy-karri-gregor-of.html. Today, I wanted to share more about Karri's fun piano learning system for children, as I have been using it with my two year old daughter, Savannah, who loves it!
KinderBach is a fun creative piano teaching system for children ages 2-7 years old, that uses DVDs, CDs, activity books and now apps to teach children how to play the piano. I was sent Now you are probably thinking how can a 2 yr. old learn the piano? Well, I thought the same thing, until I began using Karri's DVDs and You Tube videos with Savannah, who turned 2 in July. She is not a piano maestro yet, but she loves playing the little floor piano we picked up for her.
Savannah is at the point where she mimics everything she sees. So, as she watches these fun videos, she begins to copy what she sees as she sits next to me in front of her piano. I am not trying to push the learning system on her, but love how she sits at the piano and then points to the DVD set, as if to ask me to put one on for her. And, when I do, she pulls me down next to her and we begin to play the piano.
Growing up, I always wanted to learn piano or the violin, but never followed through. My parents bought me a Casio to tap away at, but all I learned was London Bridges and Happy Birthday. I can even play them today. :-) But, thanks to Karri's piano learning system, she makes learning the piano fun, which I think was what I was lacking when I was little. I didn't have a teacher, only books to look at and learn from. Karri uses video, games coloring and fun songs, as part of her 2-year curriculum designed to introduce keyboard and note recognition, in such a way that learning to play the piano is fun. I can't wait to continue using KinderBach with both my daughters. Many schools are eliminating their school programs, so children who want to learn an instrument, will have a difficult time learning, if their parents can't afford private lessons. But, there is another option -- pick up KinderBach DVDs, CDS and activity books today, as well as download apps and watch her online YouTube videos, to share with your children, who show an interest in the piano or music. They will have a blast learning and will be amazed when they can play their first song.
I was sent Karri's complete learning system and am only halfway through the first DVD set, which contains her first 3 levels. The second DVD set she sent contains the remaining levels, for a total of 6 learning levels in all. As time goes on, I can't wait to see if Savannah or Arabella develop a love for music and the piano and want to pursue it further. But, for now, I will enjoy spending quality time together as we both learn how to play the piano, all while have fun.
And, with the holidays right around the corner, why not surprise your little one with Karri's CDs, DVDs, apps, activity books, etc.?
