So, in a way to help him interact more with the girls, I tried to find creative ways and products that he could use with them. One product that has been an instant hit with Savannah and my husband for their one-on-one time has been the Roll & Play game from ThinkFun. I have seen this in a handful of magazines, as well as online. Everyone who has this game raves about how much fun it is for little ones, as a way to introduce to them to games.
Here is more about the game, from the vendor's website:
"Roll & Play is the first game ever designed specifically for toddlers! To play, simply toss the big plush cube and identify which colored side faces up. Choose a matching color card and perform the simple activity shown. “Make a happy face,” “Moo like a cow” the activities supported by Roll & Play are designed to help your child shine, supporting healthy development and celebrating success! Roll & Play is the ideal way to gently introduce play patterns and rules through a loving, joyful play experience!"
Features:
* 1 Large Plush Cube
* 48 Cards – 8 in Each Category
* Storage Pocket for Cards
* Parent’s Guide
This game is geared towards children 18 months and up, and needs 2+ players to play. The first time I watched my husband and Savannah play this game, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. My husband was letting his guard down and mooing like a coo, teaching my daughter how to hi-give and doing other stunts out of his comfort zone. I could see the enjoyment on both of their faces, especially Savannah's as she was able to play this fun and educational game with her Daddy. My husband was amazed at how much my daughter knew, as she matched up the colored cards to the matching color on the plush cube, and how she was able to count to ten.
Even though we have only had this game for a short time, it has become a stable in my husband's one-on-one time with Savannah. She continually asks to play it with her Daddy, and when they do, it is like they are in their own little world learning and playing together. In addition to Daddy/Daughter time with this game, Savannah has also played with a group of friends when the come to visit. What a great way for toddlers to learn about sharing ad playing together. The first time my daughter played Roll & Play with friends, I noticed she had a hard time taking turn. But, in time, she began to understand the concept of gaming playing and now loves watching others roll the ball and have their turn.
This is the second time I have reviewed a product from ThinkFun, but the first time I was sent a toddler specific toy. I can't stop raving about this game, and how much fun Savannah has when playing it. So, if you have toddlers and are looking for a game to play with them, why not pick up Roll & Play from ThinkFun today?
