Pomagria, from Aveníu Brands, is an exciting new pomegranate-flavored sangria that makes entertaining easy. A unique blend of fresh pomegranate juice, red wine and oranges, pomagria is fruit forward and refreshing with nuances of strawberry and apple that lend a slight tartness to its finish. Pomagria is the first pomegranate-flavored sangria to be released in the U.S. market, offering a delicious profile that is light on the palate and ready to drink.
The Fruit -- Native to northern India, the pomegranate has been widely cultivated across Asia, Africa and the Mediterranean region for thousands of years. Rich in antioxidants, the pomegranate fruit is renowned for its deep, red color and intense flavor.
Tasting Notes -- Deep ruby-crimson in color, pomagria reveals aromas of ripe pomegranate, apple and orange, with additional red berry notes on the palate.
How to Serve -- Enjoy over cubed or crushed ice with a wedge of orange. For a quick refresher, try the Pomagria Splash; add mixed fruit and a splash of soda to 5 oz. of pomagria over ice, or mix up a pitcher for entertaining friends.
Food Pairing -- A perfect accompaniment to spicy Mexican dishes and Spanish cuisine. Also pairs well with cheeses, light hors d’oeuvres and desserts.
My Thoughts:
With a teething baby and toddler going through the terrible two's, how can you blame me for trying to pencil in "Mommy Time" each evening after they finally go to bed? And, didn't the doctor say that a glass of wine a day is good for? :-)
If you read my previous post (Mermelada review), then you know that I love red wines. Before the girls came, I would make a point to order a glass of red wine or a Sangria when dining out. So, when I was offered the chance to review pomargia, a delicous red wine sangria, made with real pomegranate juice and natural flavors, how could I turn down the offer. :-)
Because my husband is a fan of pomergranate flavored drinks and Sangria like me, I let him help me review this wine. This wine is unique in flavor as it contains grape wine, orange wine, pomegranate juice and natural flavors. Mmm. It tasted so good. Best served chilled or over a glass of wine wtih a fruit slice, we tried pomagria out both ways. I found that by adding ice to the glass, along with an orange slice, really elevated the flavor of the drink. I could't get over the deep red color of this wine, as I swirled it around in my "Mommy Time" wine glass.

My husband and I spent the past week enjoying a glass of pomagria, when I served arroz con pollo and a few other spicy dishes that paired well with this wine at dinner, as well as late in the evening alongside a cheese plate. Or, if we were pressed for time to really sit and enjoy a glass, we would simply enjoy while folding the laundry. Boring, huh? Well, not really, when you experience how tasty this red wine sangria really is. It made looking forward to folding and putting away laundry fun, as it was a little reward for us. :-)
Either way you enjoy this unique new pomegranate-flavored sangria, your palate will be dancing to the different wines and juices that make up this wine. Lovers of sweet and fruity cocktails and red wine will love sampling this wine and will want to add to their collection. I ended up ordering a few more bottles after we finished off the bottle, to have on hand for upcoming in-house date nights, girls night in gatherings and to offer family and friends who stop by. Once you try this pomegranate-flavored sangria, you will wonder how you ever lived without it! :-)
