I knew that when I had kids that there would be many restless nights, but no one told me just how many. With two girls ages 2 and 9 months, I have not had a full 7-8 hrs. of sleep in a night, since we welcomed Savannah on July 19, 2010. Well, now that I think of it, it was earlier than that, as the last few weeks of pregnancy for both kept me up most of the night. And, just today, as I was pouring my second cup of home brewed Dunkin' Donuts coffee I wondered how I was able to take those 10-15 minute cat naps/power naps in college and be rearing to go. Or, for that matter, stay out all night and still be able to function the next day.
I was first introduced to my morning "miracle drink" (AKA coffee) back in college, and have since continued to drink it. Before kids, however, I was able to run out to the local coffee shop whenever I wanted morning, afternoon or night for a quick pick me up, or even coffee with the girls. But, with two young children at home, gone are the days were I could hop in the car and go. Now, it is a feat to change diapers, get them dressed, give a last minute bottle, usually diaper change again, pack the diaper bag, and then load them in the car. I am luck if I can get this all done in 45 minutes. And, then as I sit the driver's seat, I am not only winded, but exhausted. Who wants to drive 5-10 minutes away just for a hot cup of coffee and deal with all this unnecessary and time consuming preparation? I sure don't. That is why I have become a fan of Dunkin' Donuts packaged coffees. Not only can I enjoy a hot cup (or pot in the AM) of coffee, but I am also saving money on gas and daily trips to the actual store, just by brewing Dunkin' Donuts coffee at home. Yes, I still listen to the girls fuss while preparing my morning cup of jo, but I am not lugging them and the heavy diaper bag around just to get it.
I don't know about you, but I think children are wired to know when you get up. I have tried countless times to wait before they do, and slip away to make a fresh pot of coffee for my husband and I in the AM. But, as soon as I roll out of bed, one of them is calling for me. So, after I tend to them and set them up in their high chair with their breakfast or a snack, I can then brew my Original Blend Dunkin' Donuts coffee. Don't ask me how many cups I have a day, as it varies depending on the day and how the kids are. For instance, Arabella is teething and getting 6 teeth in at once, so we have had at best 1-2 uninterrupted hours of sleep a night. So, come 6:30AM, I am in dire need of 1-2 cups of jo to wake me and prepare for me the morning ahead. Then, when lunchtime rolls around, I am finding myself microwaving a cup of coffee that I forgot about, to help me make it until my husband gets home at dinner time to help out. It has been that bad. But, hopefully in a few more weeks (or less), Arabella will be in better spirits, and we will be getting at best 4-5 hrs. of restful sleep. When it happens, I am a happy girl with 1-2 cups of Dunkin' Donuts coffee in the AM.

Dunkin’
Donuts packaged coffee has also partnered with Shaina Olmanson, the founder, blogger and photographer behind the popular blog Food
for My Family, to brew up tips to help you take better digital portraits.
Whether you’re planning to upload a
funny, crazy, mysterious or thirsty face to the Dunkin’ Donuts Mug Up Promotion, keep the following tips in mind:
- Chin Up! Angle your forehead towards the camera to clean up the neck and jaw line. It feels weird but actually looks good!
- Master the 2/3 Turn. Instead of facing square to the camera, turn away from it about 45 degrees. It will appear to give you a slimmer profile.
- Powder On; Powder Off. A matte finish on your face is essential to achieve a great portrait. Use a powder with a yellow, rather than white tint, to avoid a white cast on your face from the camera flash. Not using powder? Use a napkin to blot your face.
- Experiment with Expressions. A smile is great but a compelling portrait doesn’t rely on saying “cheese” for the camera. Act out different emotions and different moods to create a compelling shot.
5. Have Fun. You always look your best
when you're enjoying what you're doing. Let your hair down, kick off your
shoes, smile, and show off your pearly whites. Don't forget to have a bit of
fun.
