Featuring all 13 original episodes from the complete third season along with special bonus feature Video Jukebox, JEM and The Holograms: Season Three DVD set will be available in stores nationwide and is priced to own with a suggested retail price of $19.93. Who will win Jem’s affections? Will The Stingers buzz their way to the top of the music charts, or will The Misfits’ mischief and mayhem thwart their rise to superstardom? Find out now with this collection of the final episodes of the iconic JEM and The Holograms!

The series JEM and The Holograms ran from 1985-’88 in first-run syndication and still boasts a loyal and vocal fan base. It is frequently credited with influencing fashion in the late 1980s and beyond, and launching the careers of female pop-rock stars and music groups. The series follows Jerrica Benton, whose discovery of Synergy, a powerful computer companion, allows her to change from owner of Starlight Music into rock star Jem. Teaming with her sister and best friends who form The Holograms, Jem sets out to make their musical dreams come true, even as she battles against the ruthless Eric Raymond and his musical protégés.

My Thoughts:

If you grew up in the 80's, do you remember a cartoon series for young girls called, Jem and the Holograms?  This was one of my favorite shows, next to HuggaBunch and Pound Puppies.  I would toon in each week and watch Jem and the Holograms try to become chart toppers, while making sure The Misfits don't get in the way of their dreams.  In addition to singing, this show was very popular with young girls in regards to fashion and styles.  I remember using canned hair spray to spray sections of my hair blue and pint to look like Jem. Hehehe, looking back on it, it sounds kind of funny, and oh I wonder how I looked.  When I asked my mom if she had any pictures, she didn't.  Thank God!

Another cool thing about the show for its time was Synergy, a powerful computer companion which turned Jerrica Benton, owner of Starlight Music, into Jem, lead singer of the popular rock band, Jem and the Holograms.  If you haven't seen this show, and love flashbacks to the 80's, then you will love watching this series.  I have had friends who have purchased and watched the first two seasons of this series. So, when I found out that they were releasing Season 3 today, I had to get a copy for myself.  What a great way to reminisce of the good 'ole days.  Hehehe, I received this 2 DVD set early in the AM on Monday, and ended up watching it in its entirety last evening and early this AM.  I couldn't believe how I remembered most of the episodes, along with the songs.  I was singing along to the theme song, and tapping my feet when Jem and the Holograms would go on stage to perform.  If you saw me, you would have thought I was watching an actual band perform, and not a cartoon series.

I am so happy I was able to get my hands on a copy of Jem and the Holograms: Season 3.  And, I can't wait until Savannah and Arabella are a little older, so that I can share with them one of Mommy's favorite childhood shows.  But, in the meantime, I will continue to watch this 2-DVD set, when I am looking for an 80's flashback fix. :-)
