My Thoughts:

I am so happy to have the opportunity to read and own Naoko Stoop's first children's book.  Savannah loved this most because her favorite word right now is moon, and every time we flipped the page and saw the moon, she was excited to be able to point it and out and say the word, "Moon."  In regards to the storyline, Naoko did a great job in helping to teach children that bedtime means time for winding down for the night and being quiet.  And, when you are quiet, you can hear the world around you, including the the moon and nature.  Red Knit Cap girl really wants to hear the Moon and goes as far as to through Moon a party, with the help of her friends in the forest.  It is not until they blow out the lanterns, and they are still and quiet, that she is able to talk to the Moon.

As for the illustrations in this book, also done by Naoko, they are beautifully done, and not what you would expect in a children's book.  But, Savannah loved the blending of colors to form beautiful forest scenes.  My favorite illustration was the bright Moon near the end of the book.  Simply stunning!

This bedtime book will definitely become a classic, as it has already become a favorite in our house for bedtime. I can't wait to see what others titles will come from this up and coming children's author.  She will be kept on my radar when looking for books to share with my daughters.
