Summary:

Baths are boring. Everything is more fun than baths. But when Livi’s mother hollers "Bathtime!"—a call readers and their parents are all familiar with—her imagination takes her on a journey full of daring obstacles and exciting events. She must battle a snake, rule the world, and escape quicksand, all while her mother waits with the bubbles ready. With delay tactics as creative as this, it’s a wonder she ever makes it all the way into the tub.

Bringing together a picture book debut, author Sarah Maizes and illustrative veteran, Michael Paraskevas, this funny, fresh book will be a must for every parent who wants to foster creativity while fulfilling the every day necessities.

My Thoughts:

I was sent this recent children's book release last week and it has become a staple in our nightly bedtime routine.  My daughter goes through these phases where she likes baths, and then she would rather run around the house, than get in the tub.  In this book. Livi is being called by her mother to get into the bathtub.  Livi, like my daughter Savannah, does everything to stall taking a bath.  This little girl has an imagination, and pretends she is a snake, then a tuba player and more.  As you turn the page, you see what other scenario Livi creates in her head, all this while her mother grows frustrated while calling her.  Does she finally get into the tub? You will have to read this cute book, which both little girls and boys will enjoy.  Even though my daughter is almost 2, she is loving the bright and colorful illustrations, as she points to the different characters Livi takes on.  This book is easy to understand by little ones, and the illustrations help them to figure out words they may not know.  There have been a few nights I tried to skip reading this book, but Savannah would go to the bookcase and pull it out.  :-)  On My way to the Bath will definitely become a great addition to your book collection, as it has ours. So, if you are looking for a fun and creative book to share with your little ones who also struggle with bath time, this book is just for you!
