Synopsis:
Two single fathers and their teenage sons take very different paths to
coping with loss in this powerful family drama from award-winning
director Chip Rossetti. Ever since a tragic accident took his wife's
life, Rick Tarrino has blamed God, hiding his pain by abusing alcohol
and his son, Lucas. Meanwhile, Michael Campbell has turned to the church
for support since his wife abandoned him and their son, Raymond, on the
same night as the crash that killed Rick's wife.
Like his childhood friend Lucas, Raymond rejects his father's choices and channels his anger into football instead of Christianity. However, it's not until Lucas lands in one of the most dangerous situations of his life and Raymond finds himself fighting for his own survival that Rick's contempt for God and Michael's faith in Him are truly challenged.

My Thoughts:
My husband and I watched this last night during our in-house date night/movie night. This movie, which showcases two fathers, one who occasionally hits his son and the other who would do anything for his son, really opens your eyes to how people, men especially cope with the loss of a spouse or close family member. Mike preaches his Christian beliefs to Rick, in hopes to change his ways, but is unsuccessful. It is not until Mike is faced with a personal tragedy, that he will have to practice what he preaches himself. I liked the Dove Worldviews comment in their review, "In a Christian analogy, the loss of a life may be the one thing which saves another one." What a powerful analogy, but one that fits this movie to a T. This movie will have you thinking about your views above loss and how God plays a role in it, as well as how you would cope in such a tragedy.
Overall, my husband and I enjoyed this film, and it provided an opportunity to discuss God and life and death after the film. Even though my husband and I have difference beliefs, it was nice to have open dialog going regarding what we think about this subject matter.
Disclosure: I was sent a copy of this movie from the vendor in order to write up an honest review. The views above are mine and mine alone.
