Babar, Jean de Brunhoff’s 1931 storybook classic based on a tale that his
wife Cecile had invented for their children, Babar the Elephant has, for 80
years, captivated millions around the globe.
The story of the little elephant who leaves the jungle, visits a big city and
returns to bring the benefits of civilization to his fellow elephants has been
captured in a multitude of best-selling books (tens of million sold worldwide,
and more than 1000 titles in print), motion pictures and animated series,
including “Classic Babar,” which currently airs on Qubo, as well as a new hit
series, “Babar and the Adventures of Badou,” which airs on Disney Junior.

Brunhoff’s elephant king with the debut DVD release of BABAR: THE CLASSIC SERIES: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON. Originally
seen on HBO, these wonderfully animated stories – 13 episodes in all, perfect

follow Babar, his family and friends undertaking many challenges and

My Thoughts:
Does you family love Babar, the loveable elephant? If so, then you will love this new DVD series, containing the complete first season of the classic series, Babar. I was first introduced to Babar as a child, and am thrilled to be able to share this wonderful series with my daughters. Each adventures teaches them valuable lessons that will help guide them in life, especially not giving up and being happy. I received this DVD last week, and over the course of 4 days, watched each of the animated cartoons with Savannah. By the last episode, she turned to me and said, "Mama, be happy!" She learned about the importance of happiness as they watched these entertaining short episodes. I couldn't believe it -- this was her first sentence!! And, from that day onward, she tells everyone she sees to "be happy!"
I am so glad I had the opportunity to review this wonderful series, that parents can enjoy with their children. And, when my daughter asks about her first sentence down the road, I can tell her she said it after watching Babar with me. We can't wait for future Babar DVD releases, and will add this DVD to our growing Babar collection.

I loved to watch Babar and Sesame Street as a kid. I'm trying to let my nieces watch it, but they prefer Tom & Jerry :)
ReplyDeleteI loved Babar so much growing up. My parents still tell me to this day how obsessed I was with the show. I still love it and if I ever have children they'll watch it as well! I always liked older cartoons too, especially Yogi Bear. :)
ReplyDeleteI've always loved Babar since I was a baby. I had little plastic figurines that I took everywhere =) Now that I have kids of my own they love him too! My youngest is one next month and he adores my Babar figurines =)
ReplyDeleteI like "les mystérieuses cités d'Or". They still play them every summer on TV, but since I have my own set of the complete seasons, I can watch them not just during the summer but whenever I want. :) An d I do plan on watching them with my children just like my parents did with me.
